Wernor Herzog’s Even Dwarfs Started Small is a very strange movie about abused dwarfs who take over their school. Their teacher is holding one of them hostage and the rest of the students trash the joint. The entire cast is made up of dwarfs and a midget or two.
Has anyone seen this movie? Your thoughts?
I saw it in college. I liked it, but like many Herzog movies it’s large streches of boredom, punctuated by moments of bizarre hilarity. I really, really liked it when the dwarfs pushed the truck into the sinkhole. I liked the pagan dwarf parade. I liked the one dwarf who laughed uproariously for over a minute. But I don’t really have any thoughts on the thing.
I thought the “bedroom scene” was a riot. And I was drawn to the little female dwarf who lost her shoe. But you’re right…long, drawn out scenes with no real purpose…I thought there was too much of that.
Doesn’t hold a candle to the inanity that was The Terror of Tiny Town - the one and only singing cowboy dwarf movie.
