Ever been shocked at what some people don't know?

Heh. There’s an Asian guy (I’m assuming Japanese) amongst the US Army soldiers Captain America rescues in that movie (set in WW2), and when Cap looks at him he doesn’t wait for the question - he says, in unaccented English, “I’m from Fresno”.

YOU FATHER IS SHERLOCK HOLMES!!?

My husband is a smart man (he married me) so I was somewhat alarmed to find out he thought Washington DC was in Washington state.

My girlfriend once asked me where Kobe is. She’s Japanese.

And aren’t you in Japan?

Yes. To be fair, she was a bit tipsy, and she did then guess where it was in the general vicinity. Still though…

LA Lakers fan, is she?

Naw, she’s a cow.

My daughter reported to me that two boys in her class who were reading Dr. Jeckyll and Mister Hyde (but hadn’t yet got to the end) were unaware that Jeckyll and Hyde were the same person.
She knew that before she picked up the book. Heck, I knew that before I read the book. It permeates our culture. It’s in Warner Brothers cartoons and single-panel comics and it’s essentially a frequently-used metaphor.
But they didn’t know (seriously – not a put-on), so I spoilered it.

I’m shocked by how often people who have been here for years don’t know enough to put threads about movies/books/music/food in CS instead of IMHO. The Cafe Society forum has been around for serveral years, and so are the posters who keep starting threads in the wrong forum.

But I presume they are taxed?

They don’t pay Federal Tax on money earned in Puerto Rico unless they are employed by the Federal Government according to the Wiki article that I just read. The island gets tons of Federal aid though.

Then you have the people who review the product in the seller feedback. :smack:
