Ever bought a one-way ticket to anywhere? If so, where?

I’m moving to Chicago from D.C. on August 1. I just bought a one-way ticket for me and Sofia the Uber-cat. First time I’d ever done that - gone somewhere with no intentions or definite plans to go back.

Anyone else?

I bought a one-way ticket to Europe once. I did plan to come back but I didn’t know exactly when or from where. Actually, the ticket I bought to get there was a special kind too - I paid for it but didn’t know exactly where I would fly into until about 2 days before the trip. (Ended up flying into Paris and out of Amsterdam.)

Basically, I flew back when the money ran out.

Last year, I helped my brother move from Florida to Los Angelos. I drove him cross country, but still had to get back to Florida.

So, instead of buying a one-way ticket, I bought a round-trip ticket for a ludicrously low price ($190, I think, from LAX to Ft Lauderdale!) and just threw away the return ticket. One-way tickets are generally priced more than round-trip tickets.

In my case they were the same price.

Hey, Montfort, how’s your band?

Interesting. I remember that when I bought mine, a one-way would’ve cost at least $100 more.

Well, since this is IMHO, I’m going to say we’re pretty damn great. But, if you meant this to be in MPSIMS, we’re doing okay. About to start auditioning new guitarists. Getting the existing songs in order. Making sure the new drummer is fitting in well. And, of course, trying to write the greatest songs in the world and preparing to record the greatest album in the world.

Thanks for asking.

One-way ticket from Meadville, PA. (actually Chicago O’Hare) to San Diego.

It felt gooooood.

One way GREYHOUND ticket from Atlanta to Denver, in 1991.

One way from the east coast to Alaska. Best buy I’ve ever made.

Does anyone actually know why this is the case?

One way train ticket from Frankfurt to London, new job, new life, new dice, new luck.

One-way plane ticket from Yuma to Phoenix, AZ. Used Greyhound to return.

One-way on the shuttle from DC to NYC back when I decided to move back there and start my music biz adventures.

Yer pal,
Satan

I HAVE BEEN SMOKE-FREE FOR:
Three months, one week, four days, 13 hours, 49 minutes and 54 seconds.
4103 cigarettes not smoked, saving $512.88.
Life saved: 2 weeks, 5 hours, 55 minutes.

Used to grab hops all over the country when I was stationed in Mayport, Fla. Once, I was left “stranded” in St. Louis and had to buy a one way ticket back to the ship (via Chicago/Pittsburgh/Raliegh-Duram/Atlanta).

Never want to do that agin.

My gal and I were helping a “friend” move from Columbia SC to Houston TX.

He left us stranded in Mobile AL, a 10-hour drive from home.

We first checked rental cars for one-way. All rentals had exorbitant ($500!) drop-off fees from Mobile to Columbia.

Then we started checking flights for lowest one-way fares.

The cheapest was Eastern.

At the time (August 1990), Eastern was going thru bankruptcy proceedings for the SECOND time, the airline mechanics union was on strike, and we were taking off in the middle of a freakin’ thunderstorm.

Oddly, though, I haven’t heard from this “friend” since then. . . .

Monterey, Calif to Monterey, Calif. Just so I could sit on the tarmack.

Most likely I’ll be getting a one way ticket to Denver next summer…
