Ever Buy an RV--which You then Barely Used?

I remember my wife always wanted for us to buy a motor home 30+ years ago but I resisted. I hated the thought of using it a handful of times a year then finding a way to store it at a reasonable price so it’s not always covered in rain, hail, snow, twigs & birdsh!t the rest of the year. We instead rented one when we took the kids and later grandkids on vacation. That way storage was always someone else’s problem. Today if we’re going somewhere it’s fly or take the car & hotel it.

I know it’s not for everyone but we don’t have to concern ourselves with an expensive RV depreciating in storage. We have neighbours our age and also retired that have the truck & 5th wheel setup. The truck also sits around unused most of the time too.

Just my 2 cents.

My neighbors have a giant RV in their backyard that I have never seen moved in the past 10 years I’ve lived here. I asked them about it and apparently they bought it cheap from a coworker who was selling it. The back was clean but the engine basically needed a ton of work. So they towed it to their backyard, removed the engine, hooked it up to their house utilities and basically use it as guest house/spare bedroom when their kids and grandkids come to visit. Seems like a good idea if you have the space.
