Ever done NYE in Times Square? Would you?

Jesus, and I’m not even that much of a party animal, and I hate cold weather, but it was still awesome. Being one of the drunk idiots some of you are complaining about probably helped

Also, I bet there is an amount of money that you would accept to go

Are we negotiating now?

I usually offer to buy all the beer.

I wasn’t quoting the song, silly.

So you say, but an earworm is now eating my brain.

Do not insult me, sir/madam. My company may be for sale, but it cannot be cheaply bought.

My apologies. I only keep company with those who are cheaply bought.

I said good day.

I’m the one who doesn’t even like going to watch fireworks because I hate crowds so much, so this is more on my Hell List than my Bucket List.

But…

No, and never, because I no longer consider staying up later than eleven entertaining.

I lived on 44th and 10th in 1999, in a high rise building. We had a building-wide party on the roof with a perfect view of Times Square. This was also, of course, Y2k, and I worked in tech so we half-expected the city to go dark at midnight. Alas, the lights stayed on… Helluva party though.

I’ve got agoraphobia, claustrophobia, haphephobia, tinnitus, irritable bowel syndrome and a weak bladder.

I’m planning to go next year.

Just think if you had shit for brains, then instead of an earworm eating your brain, it would be a…Dung Beetle.

Was there…perhaps early '80s? Way before the fear of terrorism had police snipers stationed on every rooftop.
As others have said, it was not a great experience. People were throwing beer bottles in the air (and at us), and there was a stench of liquor and other unmentionable things. Crowded, deafening, yet kind of thrilling to be there.
Still, it was too much, and we were on the train going home by 11.

I did it once, to welcome in 2000. I figure that was the year to do it.

Ended up with twice the regular crowd, unable to move.

No and no desire to. I once happened to be there on December 30, and Times Square was too mobbed then.

Nope and nope. I won’t even go to the local tree-lighting gig at Christmas, as I really hate crowds. The only big event I ever went to was the Rose Parade in Pasadena. I was 20 years old and my girlfriend convinced me to go. Meh.

The short answer is no. The longer answer is FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS DECENT NO. I can’t imagine a situation in which I could intentionally do that.

I went once - long enough ago that it was manageably crowded and only moderately crazy.

It went off about as expected. The only memorable thing was encountering two different people that I knew, but had not connected with for a while (~7 months and 3 years, respectively).
Quite unlikely I’d go again: the crowding has increased and my enjoyment of such has declined.

No, and hell no.
