Ever had pancreatitis? What does it feel like?

I had gall bladder surgery in 2010 but they had to wait for my pancreas to calm down- apparently it was pancreatitis.

They claimed later that they found a stone but never showed proof.

I had no pain but I puked all day that day, about every 20 minutes from 9:00 a.m. until about 6:00 p.m. when my husband took me to the ER. I couldn’t hold down water and when I got there they denied me even ice chips for days.

It still flares up every now and then but since I read about people puking for two days and then being okay, I figured that after 2 more hospital trips where they basically did nothing but give me potassium and magnesium for a few days and send me home, I’d just wait it out at home myself and see what happens. I usually stop puking after about 12 hours and am fine after that. I don’t like food too much anymore these days but ice water and slushies are my favorite things in the world. Even when I can’t hold it down I drink it in between pukes - puking water is better than puking pure bile, which hurts like hell. And I recently found I could eat watermelon during this time as well.

So, yeah, a common phrase in my house is “Piss off your pancreas again?”
