Soooooooooo, because your hijack was partially successful, it’s not a hijack? And, while we’re at it, if you knew people would be offended, then you knew it was offensive. You just wanted to say it anyway. Claiming an imaginary difference doesn’t actually make it different.

1. It was never a hijack. It was a question raised because more than one person mentioned the lack of “people of heft” in certain shows.
2. I was very happy to not bring the subject up again if no one else wanted to discuss it. Since you keep bringing it up, it’s fairly obvious you want to discuss it.
3. I knew some people would take offense. That doesn’t make the subject offensive, that means some people are way too quick to take offense. Claiming there is no difference doesn’t erase the fact of its existence.

I’m not trying to offend anyone, but I have a serious question for the people who are self-proclaimed “fat” in this thread. If you could, would you be not-fat? Do you see being fat as an undesirable condition?
Because if the answer to that is yes, I don’t understand why you would be upset at the lack of positive fat characters on TV. Do you want to encourage people who need badly to lose weight for health reasons to feel better about their unhealthy lifestyle?
It’s not at all like being black or gay, it’s something that you do to yourself (in 99 cases out of 100) that is going to shorten your life significantly. It’s more like smoking than anything else.
Why would TV or movies positively portray being overweight?
