Ever seen a drawing that was a dead ringer for you or someone you know?

I was browsing Snopes, as is my wont, and when I came across the picture on this page, I nearly jumped out of my skin. That little girl looks just like my cousin’s oldest daughter. (Well, minus the bloody knife.)

It’s just a line drawing, but it’s the spitting image!

Ever had an experience like that?

Yep, twice. The first time was when I was in my 20s and there was a rather racy movie in town that had an ad running in the local paper where I worked at the time that was a drawing of a tart complete with fish-net stockings. I didn’t know about it but the guys in the printing department made sure I saw it. blush

The second time was about twelve years ago when I started my present job for an ad agency and became friends with a couple of guys in the creative department. One of them was an art collector who had just received a promotional brochure for some prints and swore up and down one of the portraits looked just like me. Imagine my pique when, once again, the subject was less than completely dressed. In fact, this time, my doppleganger had one very exposed breast!!

Well, it wasn’t a drawing, but one time my aunt came home with an ad for some hotel. There were all sorts of pictures of this guy - in the hot tub with a hot girl, playing pool, etc… - and he looked EXACTLY like my brother! My aunt actually brought it cause she thought it was actually him!

How about seeing yourself in a movie poster!?!?

When Can’t Hardly Wait was coming to theatres, one of our cineplexes had a giant stand up cardboard advertisement for this movie. I was standing about a hundred feet away, happen to glance over and could have sworn that I was looking at myself!
I ran up to the poster for a closer look, and found that although not identical, the actress very spookily looked like me.
When I finally saw the movie, it was even more frightening to see that her character was similar to me in a lot of ways. AND even freakier, an old friend was sitting two seats over and had been commenting to his date about how the actress reminded him of a friend he hadn’t seen in over a year! How’s THAT for freaky circumstances?

BTW, the actress has grown her hair and is now on Six Feet Under, and no longer bears such a strong resemblance.

A friend of mine has a movie still of William Shatner from the 70’s that looks exactly like me. I mean exactly, at first i thought it WAS me. Kinda freaky, I don’t really look like William Shatner at all, it was just the angle, lighting etc. But still, not exactly flattering, it means that in my late twenties I looked like Bill Shatner in his forties, ouch. Would have been better if it was Ashton Kutcher or someone like that. Oh fucking well. Guess I should have layed off the gin.

A few years ago a friend of mine found a 1973 issue of Rolling Stone and the cover picture of Alice Cooper looked an awful lot like me. He even scanned it into Photoshop and changed the name to mine, and I had it framed.

I get to look like one celebrity in my life and it’s Alice Cooper?

Apparently, I look similar to whoever it was who played Eleanor in the latest incarnation of “the Haunting.” That was a couple years ago, actually, and I’ve cut my hair off since then, and I haven’t seen that movie recently.

I saw a picture in some catalogue that looked enough like my lockermate from last year, Rachel, that I almost cut it out and stuck it in my new locker, just for old times’ sake.

This one isn’t as fun: a little girl was found naked, raped and strangled on a river bank. The fishermen who found her body described a man they saw running away to the police, and the composite drawing looked exactly like a man I had just kicked out of my life because he was a date-rapist. It wasn’t him, though, just another scumbag who looked like him.

The pic is blurry, but this gal’s face looks an awful lot like mine. Funny thing is, the book was written, though not illustrated, by a friend of mine!

That’s Lauren Ambrose…apparently I also look just like her, but only not when she was in Can’t Hardly Wait, but how she looks now on Six Feet Under. My boyfriend told me this one night as he was watching her on Jay Leno (because his sister ran in and told him his girlfriend was on TV), then the next day, I got an email from a friend saying she saw this actress on Leno who looked, spoke, and acted just like me. Freaky.

The guy who played Cameron in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” looks just like me.
He was also a passenger on the bus in “Speed”.
He looks like me.
I don’t look like him.
Keep that straight folks, and we’ll get along just fine.

I see celebrity matches all the time in people around me. I went to school with a guy that was the spitting image of Tom Cruise. Funnily enough I learned later that he was gay :). There was also a girl that was a mirror of Fran Drescher.

In David Lynch’s Straight Story (otherwise known as “The One That Made Sense™”), there is a scene where the protagonist receives a standing ovation from a camp of cyclists. In the shot where he drives through the crowd on his little vehicle, there’s a person on the right side of the screen standing there clapping who’s just… well, me.

I don’t know how I got there. I don’t even remember being there. I hope they paid me.

Yes, Lauren Ambrose…Mishell, you do realize that this means you and I are twins…

I visited the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto with my parents when I was 14, and the guy in “Portrait of Timothy Cole” looked exactly like my friend Jim, if he wore glasses and lost a few pounds. He’s holding a violin in the painting, and Jim played the violin as well. Unfortunately it’s not a terribly popular painting, so they didn’t have a print I could buy for him. :frowning:

I was looking at some portraits of my ancestors, really old ones from the 19th and 18th centuries, and one guy’s etching just leaped out at me : it was me in 1820 !

I suppose one should expect that sort of thing when looking at family portraits, :smack:, but as I’ve never really resembled any of my living relatives it was kind of nice to see some evidence that I’m not a total whodunnit.

Spooky too, in a way.

A Canadian website by a belly dance instructor has an interesting story along those lines. She was visiting a small town and happened to look in a bookstore, and one of the boks there had a drawing that looked exactly like her – naked. In fact, there were a LOT of copies of the book around with her naked self portrayed on them.

A little research of hers revealed that it was a collection by an artist she had modelled for at one time. So she just had to get used to seeing herself naked all over town.

Oh, her site would be:

It’s not an adult site. Well, it’s made by an adult and for adults, but you know what I mean. Right? Right.

I once found a p40’s pin-up style drawing that strongly resembles Mrs. Zebra. It’s pretty cool.

My husband and I were in the National Portrait Gallery in London. He came up to me laughing his head off and led me to a painting of some guy named Sir Henry Unton from Elizabethan times. He said, who does this look like? I very calmly and matter of factly replied, my brother. This guy looked JUST like my brother, scraggly beard, baby face and all. We bought the poster for him at the gift shop. Since it was special order we had it sent back to our home in NY at some expense. My brother doesn’t see the resemblence and hasn’t hung the poster.
