Rather than risk resurrecting a zombie (I never know where that starts) by bumping this older thread here’s another place to indicate those things that really defy logic or else just bug you for no good reason.
Every time they show the footage of the first conquering of Mt. Everest by Hillary and Norgay, I have to question why the camera is above them as the reach the top. Wouldn’t that make the camera operator the first guy there?
Just a WAG but maybe the cameraman got there by helicopter or something, and thus didn’t actually climb the mountain.
Good thought. Maybe it was really faked like the moon landing. The only thing I can figure is that they “reenacted” the thing like MacArthur’s return. Didn’t they have several takes of that?
Nope, he didn’t - the air’s much too thin to fly a helicopter to that altitude. They can fly lower on the mountain, yes, but not to the summit of Everest. My money’s on reinactment.
IIRC, the climbers reached the top, set up the camera, then reinacted the final ascent.
