I didn’t say they manifested themselves in that short time, I’m saying I became aware of them in that time. I’m not sure why you’re having such a hard time believing that.
He could have stated his doubts as a question rather than an accusation. And even after I explained it, he still doesn’t get it. It’s good to be skeptical. It’s not so good to pretend skepticism when your real motivation is to act like an ass. He was doing the latter.
He never said nor implied anything of the sort. Why are you just making shit up? Cavities – even lots of them – can form over time without any awareness of them at all. I have extraordinarily hard enamel on my teeth, so the few times I’ve gotten cavities, I had no clue until my teeth were x-rayed and the film showed that my teeth were basically hollow shells. No pain. And if I learned of this immediately following a large luxury purchase, that would make me a liar, how, exactly? You really are an ass.
Sorry for your troubles, tdn. I second (or third, or whatever) getting a second opinion and quote. I recently had a root canal on a tooth that had previously been capped in the hopes that that would save it. My dentist only billed $575 for the original porcelain crown, and then accepted the insurance reimbursement only for the replacement with the post when he had to redo it with the root canal (which was also only $575). Also, check directly with your insurance company. The reason my dentist only charged what he did for the work I needed was because those were the caps placed by my carrier (they aren’t allowed to charge Aetna patients more than $X for procedure Y). For all you know, your insurance carrier has the same kind of deal, but your guy gets around it by charging you the difference.
I have nearly perfect teeth. I’ve been blessed with good genes, I’m sure, and also go out of my way to take really good care of them. Still, last time I went to the dentist I was surprised to hear I had a (tiny) cavity. And I go regularly to the dentist.
You do go to the dentist and the dentist says, “Well, lookee here, look at all these cavities.”
As I recall from his other thread, the dentist had originally given him one price and then…there was another price, given later.
You weren’t “skeptical”. You called him a liar. At least have the balls to stick with your statement.
Lay off tdn. Except for his feelings on cats, he’s a really nice guy and far nicer than you, it seems.
TDN buddy, if you recall I’m getting a few implants and crowns these days too, and I’m waiting until I can afford to complete the work. I’ve been going to a dental school, and the work has been top notch and pain free. The only thing I hate is that they’re like “ok you need this this and this, and it will be $8,215, you want to start tomorrow?” I’m like, I’ll be back in 3 years when I’ve saved up, thanks!
I’m not making up any of what you quoted. Each sentence in that quote is a reasonable conclusion drawn from the data in this thread.
Let’s start with: “And seven new cavities have formed between late Feb, and late May? C’mon.”
tdn was quite explicit that he has seven new cavities in the last 90 days. He went to the dentist in late Feb he was told that the proposed root canal procedure would not work; he needed an implant. If the dentist had found cavities at that time, why would he not inform tdn? The dentist, however, didn’t mention cavities in Feb, so the only reasonable conclusion is that tdn didn’t have seven cavities in late Feb. Then, just last week, late May, tdn visited the dentist again and was told he now has seven cavities. If they weren’t there in late Feb., but are present in late May, then there’s nothing left to conclude except tdn has developed seven cavities in three months. That is, if everything and everyone are to be believed.
Next: “Teeth, even if totally neglected, just don’t completely rot away in six months.”
But that’s exactly what tdn stated. Here’s what he said:
Trains bought in Dec thru Feb. Then teeth rot. Then in May, an additional root canal is needed. And a crown. And seven cavities to be repaired that weren’t there in February. That’s six months - and actually only five. A totally inescapable conclusion. In addition, none of this explains why, when he knew in December he needed at least a root canal, he didn’t have it attended to for two months.
But that’s not the situation tdn has described at all. He’s been to the dentist at least twice in a very short period. Same goes for the rest of you trying to equate what tdn has related here to your own experiences. You folks have avoided visits to the doc. tdn hasn’t. No cavities in December; no cavities in February; then all of a sudden seven cavities in May. And we also in that period went from needing a single root canal, to two of them, plus a crown.
Oh, for fuck’s sake. You and UncleBeer really need to get hobbies. To go from “I don’t have it” to “I intend to be a deadbeat” is really stretching things. I’ll figure something out. Do I really have to explicitly say that? Here, for the thinking impared:
I make a salary. I make enough in a few weeks to pay this off, if I had no other financial responsibilities like rent and food and bills. Note that this list is in no way comprehensive. There’s more than rent and food and bills. When I add things up, there is not enough left over to pay the dentist. However, if I work hard at budgetting, and cut corners, I may be able to come up with enough cover the dentist bills. Therefore I am not a deadbeat. I just haven’t yet figured out my strategy. But I will soon.
There, is that better? Or do I need to print that out on a two by four and smack you upside the head with it?
I had nice teeth for a very long time, with few problems until last year when I noticed a cavity. Within a week, the entire tooth cracked in half, before I even had a chance to get to the dentist. I’m sure there was probably a good deal of decay, but I didn’t notice anything (felt no pain, didn’t see anything). So from my perspective, it happened pretty quickly.
Wish I could go to the dentist, but I’ve got no dental plan here yet and I’m deep in debt. Looks like I’m living with it.
Can we get back to the trains? My gut feeling is that GaWd may be correct. Is this a simple layout or one with different speed controllers on different loops? Fudge up the isolation joints, and it won’t work worth a darn.
Liar. You are completely making up crap as if that’s what tdn said or implied. And your conclusions are entirely UNreasonable, which is demonstrated by the facts, if you’d pull your head out of your ass long enough to pay attention to them. For instance…
Yeah, let’s do start there. No matter how much you try to distort the timeline, you’re wrong. Here is a simple fact, see if your 2 brain cells can come to the right conclusion this time:
Dentists don’t always check for cavities at every office visit.
And in case that still doesn’t register with your dumbass pea brain, what that means is that regardless of whether or not tdn was being seen for the one broken tooth he was aware of since December, he still may very well have not known about the cavities until he started experiencing pain from them last week and went in to specifically have the cause diagnosed, which resulted in checking for and finding cavities and the need for another root canal. So no, not “the only reasonable conclusion” at all.[23]
HYPERBOLE. What kind of dumbfuck would take the statement “all the teeth in my head rotted out” as anything else? The whole thread title is hyperbole. Certainly you aren’t convinced that EVERYTHING is broken and EVERYTHING sucks, seeing as how he only went on to list 3 specific things. Now I know you’re just being an ass for the sake of being an ass.
No, jackass, that’s pretty much exactly what happened to tdn. He was OBVIOUSLY sporting cavities for quite some time for the damage to have been as extensive as it was, yet, until this past week, no pain. It happens. Just like that. For all the visits I had between last June when I got my first crown to this past March when I finally had to get a root canal in that tooth, not once did they check for cavities in other teeth, as that’s not what I was there for. They just don’t do that.
So get the fuck over your holier-than-thou stupid self.
What you need to do in the future is double-check your story to make sure you include every possible detail. THEN have everyone involved in the story (dentists, model railroad shops, etc.) sign notarized affadavits affirming your story as correct. Post those on the web, and be prepared to cite them. Also, you should post detailed financial information, including your monthly budget and yearly income so we can ensure that your budgeting according to our high standards.
If you do that, you’ll reduce the probability of some squishy bag of dog semen walking into the thread and oozing his foul musk all over the place to only 83.2%.
