Everythings gone! GONE I TELL YOU!

sob I’ve had big computer problems the past month or so. My mouse pointer would freeze but I could tell the mouse was still working as it would highlight items, then I would reboot and my video settings would be gone, or windows would not load prompting another reboot. Its my video card me thinks, tell tale signs! I use the roomies computer and purchase a much better video card off ebay. After much anticipation it comes today! I slap it in along with the 256 meg SDRAM dim I purchased also. SAME PROBLEMS!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK! Now wont even boot to windows out of safe mode! Stop all startup items from loading… no change!! Scanreg /restore… nothing… scanreg /fix… nothing. I try to load windows on top of itself… at the first reboot it locks. Fdisk, partition, format, reload win98se.

GONE… its all gone… everything Ive built up… everything Ive downloaded… all my driver… all my favorites, all my games. gone. gone. gone.
BWAAAHAHAAA!!! SOB
It boots now though. sad smiley
God I love computers!! I got rid of that “not so fresh hard drive feeling”!

I feel your pain. My ex was the computer genius… I have a friend in Yellowknife who would work for pie/homemade meals, but since I’ve moved, nobody.

I have had to reformat once since we split up. I don’t ever wanna have to do that again.

Ah, yes. Just about a month ago did this happen to me. Crashed hiard drive. Poof no warning. Before that Windows corrupted in December. It was awful.

So, I, as well as the lovely Ginger, feel your pain.

Been there. Done that. Hell I helped survey the map to that place. LOL

ROFLMAO!

That was the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time!

ALL YOUR SOFTWARE ARE BELONG TO BILL GATES!

Seriously, don’t sweat it too much. Format and reinstall everything and it’ll probably run faster cuz you’ll have gotten rid of stuff you don’t use anymore (assuming it was a software conflict and not a hardware problem). In a few days you’ll be back on your feet and you’ll be wiser for the experience.

BTDT . . . The first time I had no backups (that was back in my Total Newbie days). Now I am the Queen of Backup. Regular tape backups, Zip disks for archiving, yada yada yada. You can never have too many copies of your data!

Commiseration all the same. I’m betting you’ll not make the same mistake twice!

Oh yes I will! I’ll take that bet.

Been there. Done that. sigh Reformatting and reinstalling Windows is like gently masturbating with a cheese grater.

Next time before you wipe out all your stuff, try rebuilding the Windows registry. When you restart with your OS Recovery disk, there should be an option at the bottom of the list for this. It may not help, but it’s always worth a try before whipping out the cheese grater.
