Are there any chain stores that just BOTHER you whenever you see them? I mean the type of place that looks the same in hundreds of cities all over the world. For me, this chain is Starbucks.
I live in a mid-sized suburb (West Hartford, CT) and in the center of town we have four coffee shops. Each one has its own different clientele, and I work in the one frequented by fussy old women <grumble>. Anyway, I like all of our different coffee shops because they are all unique. All of them, that is, except Starbucks. The Starbucks in West Hartford looks EXACTLY like the one in Edinburgh, Scotland, and probably everywhere else in the world. What happened to each city having its own unique flavor? I am beginning to dread a world where every cup of coffee is from Starbucks, every sandwitch is from Subway, and every book is from Borders.
Am I being silly, or do you all agree?
