Evil heavy dark music recommendations?

We’ve done this about a year ago, but we need a new fix on evil, dark, heavy music. Mainly metal but can be any type of genre as long as it’s diabolical or just kinda creepy.

These are some of the songs we really like-

Inside the Fire and Down With the Sickness (w/o the crap he screams in the middle about his mother) by Disturbed

KORN - Evolution, Twisted Transistor, Coming Undone

Dimmu Borgir- Puritannia

Winter Solstice- Calibrate the Virus

Drowning Pool - Let the Bodies Hit the Floor

Ministry

Cradle of Filth

Thumb Static X

Diamanda Galas

Something similar to this is what we want.

Hatredcopter—Dethklok
Awaken (Mustakrakish) by the same artist is nice, too.

Remind me to review my “Goth” playlist, later, for more suggestions.

Swans

  [A Screw](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqiEmNaG5QY&feature=related) - video
  [Time Is Money (Bastard)](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNvNW-k0cFY&feature=related)

The Residents

[Satisfaction](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxecTNsGsPw) - static image video (yes, it's a cover of the Rolling Stones' song)
  [Die In Terror](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mdJiex9quE&feature=related) - video
  [IIts a Man's, Man's, Man's World](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2_sH64Fmac&feature=related) - video (James Brown cover)

Throbbing Gristle

[Hamburger Lady](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0ukMn0eWLQ) - static image video

not sure what metal you already listen to, but Devildriver is awesome

  [Clouds Over California](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUK6Qh9tFrQ) - video

Pig Destroyer

  [Gravedancer](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvjGipvKaF0) - video

I could post this all day. All I have to do is glance over at my 5000+ albums or 1500+ DVDs.

I don’t know most of the artists in the OP, but seeing as ol’ Diamanda’s there, I’m guessing there’s room to move.

There’s always time for a bit of the King. And I don’t necessarily mean Elvis:

Or maybe I did!

1973-74 King Crimson, esp Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Pt (I and II) and Red (the song) - that is some fucked up shit there. I recommend you enjoy at very high volume.

Burzum - Dunkelheit

Isis - Carry

mr. jp, Isis is a great band.

I forgot to mention Laibach, specifically their cover of Sympathy For The Devil (video).

For other way heavy way out there industrial music, try Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, and even Psycho TV (Genesis P-Orridge is quite an interesting person; he was a part of Throbbing Gristle).

More metal(ish): Neurosis, Converge, old Butthole Surfers, and Meshuggah

Neurosis - Locust Star http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEVyDjxsUrk
Converge - Eagles Become Vultures http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBxHwJK92jU
Butthole Surfers - Cherub http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz6VMmEYOso&feature=related
Meshuggah - Bleed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc98u-eGzlc
ETA: sorry for the lame HTML coding; it’s late and I’m very tired

Practically anything by Das Ich, particualrily from the Satanische Verse album.

Queen’s of the Stone Age “Burn the Witch”

You can hardly go wrong with Rammysein. It’s even better since it’s in German.

Nothing beats funeral doom for evil, heavy and dark.

Evoken, “Quietus”
Skepticism, “Aether”
Shape of Despair, “Curse Life”
Thergothon, “Elemental”
Ahab, “The Hunt”

As always, maximum volume yields maximum results.

Much by Fields of the Nephilim.

Also, “Swamp” by Talking Heads. Or as evil and dark as you can get with the Talking Heads.

Pink Floyd - Careful with that Axe Eugene.

I permanently silenced a noisy neighbor by blasting the Dies Irae from Verdi’s Requiem at 2:00 a.m.

Verdi’s Requiem is, after all, what you get when you stroll up to the greatest opera composer in the world and say “yo, Giuseppi – why don’t you write a Mass of Death?”

Celtic Frost - A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh

The entire CD of avant-metal band Fantomas’ The Directors Cut . Free form avant garde metal versions of horror movie themes.

I’ve always been partial to “How the Gods Kill” by Danzig as well.

Here’s some death metal that I happen to like:

Behemoth - Slaves Shall Serve
Behemoth - Zos Kia Cultus
Bloodbath - Breeding Death
Decapitated - Nine Steps
Deicide - Bible Basher
Vader - Carnal
Vader - IFY (Depeche Mode cover)

Anything by GWAR.

Do I win the thread?

GWAR is great, but GWAR is also Michael Bolton compared to some of the music listed in this thread.

Christian Woman by Type O Negative.

Yeah - and one of Fripp’s side projects, the Robert Fripp String Quintet, made a piece of semi-ambient music called Threnody for Souls in Torment that seems like a musical depiction of terror.

There’s loads of classical stuff that would also qualify, but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for…
