When dealing with ‘people’ like this JJ (as opposed to all the other James Jensens apparantly out there), I’m reminded of this parable by Douglas Adams:

A man didn’t understand how televisions work, and was convinced that there must be lots of little men inside the box. manipulating images at high speed. An engineer explained to him about high frequency modulations of the electromagnetic spectrum, about transmitters and receivers, about amplifiers and cathode ray tubes, about scan lines moving across and down a phosphorescent screen. As for proving evolution - well, in the course of this thread I’ve seen a supposedly human OP evolve into a subhuman life-form right before my eyes, so that’s proof enough for me.

Erm … isn’t it a major point of Creationism that God created the world (seven days not being universally accepted as a timeframe) out of nothing? IOW, God didn’t have a recipe book calling for 18 tracts of land, a Hot-Ass Piece of Molten Rock and 5 bazillion gallons of water, all of which he had FedExed from storage;)

There’s only one teeny weeny stumbling block to my full comprehension on which I’m hoping Mr Jensen will be able to enlighten me: Why did God make the woman out of a man’s RIB of all things? It’s not an obvious modelling medium but as they say the Lord moves in mysterious ways. I hope you’ll provide me with an answer. But please… no theories, philosphies, ideas, concepts etc.

And just because I’m that kind of curious guy … F.U. Shakespeare (I wonder if there’s someone who doesn’t have a pretty good idea what that means…), is there any salient point you’re hoping to raise by saying the OPer is Mormon?

…which is an odd assertion, since that’s all you seem to offer. By not, yourself, opening a biology, geology, palentology, or chemistry book, you can’t claim that they have nothing to offer. Just because you choose to ignore existing evidence, it doesn’t follow that the evidence does not exist. If you really cared about learning, you wouldn’t make sagacious demands over the internet.

Go to the talk.origins website, or better yet, educate yourself with textbooks. Self-imposed exile from the world of learning isn’t going to give you anything but ignorance.

True enough, but I think the entire point of Mr. Jensen’s OP was to somehow level the playing field by asserting that “evolution”, however he defined it, was just as dependent on a non-evidential belief system as Christianity.

Also, I note that he seems to have given up posting. Heat, kitchen, etc., I suppose.
