Evolution

Evolution (and, for that matter, the Big Bang) are theories. They’re theories which, based on our current understanding of how life on Earth and the universe work, appear to do a pretty good job of explaining things. It’s entirely possible that, as we gain further understanding of these topics, those theories will be revised, or even thrown out entirely.

Few, if any, scientists would call either evolution or the Big Bang a “fact”.

For many people who believe in a higher power, that belief has little, if anything, to do with facts or rationality.

It also sounds like you’re hung up with the understanding that anyone who believes in God must automatically dismiss science and things like evolution. That’s not the case at all.

No it hasn’t. When has i?

And religion provides us with a way to structure the random events in our lives into a meaningful story. Things don’t just happen. They happen for a reason. As pattern recognition machines, we find that very satisfying, even if the reason is entirely in our imagination.

Habit.

Finally! Someone with all the answers, now I can prove to my wife that my 10 years on the board have not been wasted.

Structure is should be on the list of needs along with water and food. man created religion so it would have structure. If it is habit why do children?

… exist? When a man loves a woman very much they hug in a very special way.

Perfectly rational people believe in God. They just don’t believe there is any rational proof of the existence of God. Which also means it doesn’t matter whether there is a God or not.

Haha screw you. I’ll take a bet you’re definately a church going person?
am I right.

if it doesn’t matter (which it does it affects our education negatively) No rational person does.

mla1, what’s your deal? Why are you being so hostile to posters who, generally, are on the same side of this issue as you are? You sound like someone who’s had a religious conversion recently. Ask your questions but dude, chill out a little.

Answer is, I met God, great guy and He is also my daddy I am His child and I Love Him.

Oh yeah, He says hi

Really that is your answer, not only me but others have experienced actually meeting God. This has been going on since God created man, it’s not going to go away because it happens continually.

How does god look kanicbird?

Who me? I haven’t darkened a church door in thirty years. What I would like to get across to you is that your position is just a ignorant and close-minded as that of the most ardent fundie. Live and let live dude.

Okie-dokie.

Kanicbird has face to face meetings with Yaweh, and the OP, who shares my opinion on religion, is doing everything he can to stir as much shit as possible in just about the most obnoxious way possible.

This should be interesting – in a, say, doesn’t that train wreck sort of pique your interest, sort of way.

How is it close minded if god came through the door to my room right now or something that I truly believed couldn’t be explained by science I would become christian so quickly.

It is possible there is a God and he created the earth in such a way as to not have left proof of his existence. Can science prove God didn’t create the earth 6.1 X 10^3 years ago with the appearance of age?

Since science and religion are fundamentally different ways of understanding things, let’s quit abusing them to prove the other is wrong.

That is not the issue. The issue is whether you can prove that he did not meet God?

he didn’t create earth gravity did yes science has proven he didn’t, age on earth is gone due to life and water present hence we date it with the decay of moleculs, science has already proven religion to be fundementally flawed.
