4chan doesn’t protest. They riot. Yes, occasionally they’ll pull pranks that amuse everyone and seem to be doing some public good, but this offends many of them who’ll then try to piss off people just so there is no love lost between 4chan and the public.

That can come back to bite you in the ass too. My wife and I know a girl who ‘did like the Romans’ and flashed for beads on Bourbon Street and let herself be videotaped doing it. A couple of years later she became a contestant on a reality show. Of course, the footage surfaced and rapidly found its way to the Internet. She isn’t the typical tramp-stamped reality TV fodder; she’s actually an extremely sensitive girl, and was thoroughly mortified when she discovered it. Fortunately for her, it’s pretty much vanished from the web now.

I’m a little concerned about that post above. As ladyfoxfire mentioned, putting your IRL name and email address in your handle is kinda problematic, from a “being stupid” perspective. When added to the fact that the post itself is somewhat bizarre, I think, not only are we being played for fools, it’s possible that some third party is victimizing this young lady as a prank.
I have conveyed my concerns to the mods by reporting her post, and suggested that her handle be redacted from the board, just in case some joker decides to use it to harass an innocent. Just as a suggestion, it might not be a great idea to have that handle repeated in live quotes.
Not trying to be a Junior Mod or anything, just sayin’…
