Sometimes, I have had a bottle of soda erupt on me after the cap had been removed for a good 30 seconds, at least. No further aggitation was involved. Why would this be? Apparently, the pressure faile to equalize, but what’s the nitty gritty on this phenomenon? - Jinx
Liquid that is supersaturated with gas can be a bit touchy and sometimes it takes a nucleation point to start a chain reaction and release all the gas. It could be nothing more than the right molecule bumping an imperfection in the glass.
