He’s been a constant irritant all my adult life. An utter twat with zero redeeming features and not even the smallest amount of self-awareness that might lessen his impact.
I was done with him in the mid-80’s and never dreamed anyone would dare to give him any greater power than his money and arrogance already afforded him.
He is exactly the type of person that I reserve the word “hate” for.
So yeah, very, very done. He can slink away until the court-cases start. At which point I’ll happy pull up the comfy chair and popcorn and see if he gets even a smidge of the punishment and shame he’s long deserved.
He’s been in the news for the last 50 years as well.
So long as it isn’t front page news, and it isn’t everyday, and that news actually has an impact on my country and my life, then I’m not too worried about it.
He still covers news about the former occupant of the Oval Office, he just doesn’t say his name.
If people had done that before the last 4 years, then it would have been called childish and petty.
I’m mostly paying attention to the fallout, rather than anything about the man himself or what he says now. For example, I just found out a lot of his last minute pardons are defective–they only cover the charges people were actually convicted for, not the myriad other charges that could be brought.
I play bridge online, and thankfully the Trumpist ads have finally ceased on the Bridge app I use (BridgeBase).
I think I’ve had to tell several hundred people to shut up about Trump (positive or negative) in the last year.
Almost all non-Americans had nothing good to say about him, but there seemed to be a strange amount of support from “the prairie provinces” in Canada.
I took up Bridge again specifically to escape the non-stop political and pandemic news, but I guess any “community” that skews so old as Bridge players do us going to have people who want to talk about both Trump and COVID.
I heard that CNN adopted the phrase “the previous administration” to refer to, er, the previous administration. I like that. Anytime I can avoid hearing that name or seeing his face is good with me.
I was distressed this morning to read that he has set up some sort of organization called Office of the Former President ('cuz he’s the only one, apparently) that will issue media releases (most likely crayon drawings) supporting/announcing his political opinions. I’d rather he just disappear.
I’m really glad I don’t get high blood pressure having to read his stupid tweets all the time. However, I am looking forward to the impeachment trial. There is no way he doesn’t perjure himself and somehow manage to take down Jared with him.
Or in other words you are seven No Trump. that’s pretty darn strong
I fully admit that Trump still has a rent free apartment in my mind, particularly the last few weeks as things have turned against him. I think that I am just wanting to see it sink into him that he is a loser and that there will be some consequences for his misbehavior. Although it is much more peaceful with him locked out of mass communication I still somehow need closure.
On another note I do find it amusing how many people who are totally and completely done with anything Trump related still opened and posted to this thread on him,
I’d be happy if he just vanished, but he won’t. While the GOP senators are ranting that he’s out of office, and therefore cannot go on trial in the Senate, he’s not accepting that. Contrary to what jayreyGuest said, he is corresponding from “The Office of the 45th President.” His lawyers’ press releases use that whole phrase, awkwardly, every time they refer to him. He apparently believes he’s still president. That makes his senators’ argument really tricky.
He clearly intends to be a part of US politics in the future. He’s not going away. Meanwhile, Sen. Schumer wants him to testify, even if it takes a subpoena. He still has tax fraud and bank fraud charges to deal with in the state of New York.
I’d like to be done with Trump, but he’s not done. He’s not the most powerful man in the world anymore, but he’s a bitter, vengeful man. He isn’t capable of gracefully walking away.
I feel as if a bowling alley has been removed from my head. The silence is remarkable. It is as if a load is gone from my shoulders. I am still trying to get used to the idea of “President Biden.” It seems too good to be true.
