Exactly how done with Trump are you?

So he’s been, so far, quiet and out of the news. But Sarah Huckabee’s campaign for governor has him being quoted in news articles about it. I’m not sure whether the reporter sought out a comment by him, or he somewhere offered one up unprompted. And I REALLY don’t care which, to be honest.

As soon as I saw his name in print I closed the article and noped on out of there.

I hadn’t thought about it, it just kind of happened. But reflecting on it, I think that will be my approach moving forward.

I’m not opening any news with his name in the title or staying tuned in to ANYTHING that’s going to bring him in to the discussion. I’m certainly NOT going to encourage them by reading ANYTHING about him.

Don’t want to see his face, hear his opinion, or what he’s doing. I’m sure whatever it is, must be detrimental to US democracy, I don’t need to know the details in depth.

I think otherwise, he’s once again certain to dominate all conversations, news media, political discussions. My projection is he’ll just up the outrageous statements until he’s back in the headlines and sucking all the air out of every room again.

What’s your approach?

Same as yours.
I want him, his whole family, his idiot supporters and everything about him to fall off the face of the earth.

Yes, I want him and his horrible family to fade into utter obscurity, hear no more about them, and not see trump’s stupid hateful orange face on the news again. The relative quiet since his Twitter feed got shut down and his presidency finally ended have been lovely .

The only exception to me being done with any mention of trump is hearing the term “former president trump”-- music to my ears; don’t think I’ll get sick of hearing that. Or when the news subject is along the lines of “SDNY moves forward with fraud charges…” or “Senate votes to convict in Impeachment trial”.

I’d settle for jail/prison/GITMO… but yeah.

Now see, I think there’s nothing wrong with just ‘the former president’!

There’s no real need to say his name. I watched the inauguration on PBS, and I’m pretty certain they never mentioned T by name. It was all, ‘preceding president’ and such.

And I very much appreciated it! I would really like all newscasters and other media to follow that lead.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

I suffered way too much to leave all this Schadenfreude on the table.

Not holding my breath for full accountability, but I’m sustained by the little things like Capitol rioters ID’d and charged, Trumpers finding it impossible to get work, Rudy’s incipient legal reckoning, etc. There’ll be a lot of quiet gloating in the coming months and years.

Sure, I’d be down with that. But if the name has to be mentioned, having it preceded by “former president” makes hearing his name much more palatable.

I’ve noted that on Colbert for the last few weeks, maybe since the 6th, they have refused to use his name, and often *** his name out when they show text headlines.

I have a Chrome extension that replaces pictures of him with pictures of kittens. I’m not taking that off.

This. While Trump was president, I usually tried to avoid reading articles about him in order to not get outraged every single day. I hardly ever watched his speeches or statements or his performance in debates, because I simply can’t stand to hear the guy speak. If he came on TV during the news, I would mute the sound.

Now, however, I rather enjoy reading about his impeachment trial and ongoing financial and legal jeopardy. I am however delighted that there is not some new story about some outrageous tweet every single fucking day.

I don’t want to hear any more news from or about Trump, positive or negative. Just want him to fade out. No more whining about a stolen election, no trials, no future presidential run, no impeachment…nothing.

I’m basically at the point where I don’t much care what he says or does, save for the occasional schadenfreude type story about him and his life out of office.

I do have to admit that I’m intensely curious about the impeachment trial; I want it to succeed so they can ban him from holding office again, and thus largely de-fang Trumpism.

Otherwise, not interested in hearing about him.

I’m so done with it I’m tired of seeing posts about it.

Using categories I’ve done my best to filter out anything Trump or U.S. politics related but some users get an A+ for their fervor as I see it almost in every category.

I’m all for people venting about it but for the love of god post them in the pit or politics category.

Trumps will be in the news for the next fifty years. Eric, Don Jr. and Ivanka will attempt political careers. Trump will try to settle scores as long as he has support, and regardless of his accomplishments, the percentage of supporters changed little. He did lose many of the independents. Millions will support him. This will continue to cause schism in the Republican Party for years. Others will attempt his tactics with less charisma and success.

Even better, “Mister” Trump, with no mention of his former office.

This is kind of unfortunate. Had the media shown this kind of restraint in the 2016 primaries, we might have been spared the Trump administration.

Now is exactly the wrong time for everyone to start pretending like Trump never happened. He needs to be hung like an albatross round the neck of every Republican until the end of time, particularly the backsliding Never Trumpers and the ones who voted against impeaching him. We need an unceasing drumbeat of coverage that yes he committed crimes, no he’s not rich, yes he illegally shoveled public and campaign funds into the money-loving maw of his failing, corrupt business every second he was in the White House.

Never again.

Sadly, as long as people keep playing Bridge, Whist and similar card games, he’ll never be out of the public consciousness.

I am a firm believer in the Newtonian physics of life: “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” As big as he has been in the news for the last 40 years, I want an equal level of silence surrounding him, and his family, for the next 40 at least. I do want him tried and prosecuted to the full extent that federal and state and international laws dictate. But I want the reporting to be on page 73, just past “Gardening Notes” and the horoscope.

Seven. I’m seven done with Trump.

Wait a minute–is this a vector or a scalar?

It’s not too late to change your answer to seven NNW.
