I’m so glad you decided to go for it. I’ve used them ever since my kid was born 19 years ago - I should have been changing every five years, but I’ve been a bit lax. My mother forgot about hers completely and ended up with some bleeding , but it had been there for a good 15 years! It got sprayed silver and decorated the christmas tree for a couple of years I kid you not. I encourage all my friends to try it, but some have had the horror story thing.
When I had the first one fitted my first period was really bad. I was all doubled up and went back to the clinic demanding that they take it out. The young male doctor was really shocked and ready to remove it, but he sought the opinion of a female doctor at the surgery. She asked me if I usually got much pain with my periods - which I hadn’t - and just explained I might get one or two bad periods initially. Very lucky for me that she was there because I’ve been very happy with it ever since and … it works! I have no idea what type it is. It looks a little like a treble clef
The knot in the fishing line seemed to be coming undone at one time but the gyno fixed it with a round turn & two half hitches - or whatever knot they use. My vagina seems to get smaller sometimes and the line becomes more feelable.
