Normally, I wouldn’t be put off by this, but this semester, I have Geometry, which I started out having a good grade in, but then, SOMEhow, got a 73. Today, there was the Theatre II exam. Tomorrow, Biology. Thursday, Geometry. And Friday, Band III. Really, Geometry’s the only one I’m particularly worried about.
I heard it said once and I completely agree with this sentiment; that High School is one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences of your life but no way in hell you’d ever choose to put yourself through it again.
Lucky. I still have to take industry exams every now and then. In fact I have two I have to take in the next couple of months as soon as my supervisor actually tells me which ones I need to take.
Also Geometry was the best. I especially loved doing proofs. Most people hated those but I found them easy so the exams didn’t bug me.
Our Geo teacher was on the Gong show back in the 70’s or so and he promised he’d show us the tape if the entire class got B’s or better. That really motivated a lot of people and we actually made it so we got to see him with a giant ass white-boy fro and too tight pants singing and dancing around. It was worth it.
I’m in grad school. I have less than 48 hours to finish preparing a 30 minute presentation that I will be giving to the entire program, including faculty, detailing exactly what I’ve been doing for the past year. I’ve barely started. Additionally, I completely switched gears - and labs - just a few months ago, so I have only a few months’ worth of stuff to talk about, and I have to create all new slides from scratch. I’m putting in 12+ hour days every day this week trying to prepare in time.
I’ll take your Geometry final if you do my presentation.
For some reason, I wasn’t surprised to see that you are taking theater and band.
Good luck with exams. If you plan on going to college, they’ll be just as intense. The exams now are good practice for having to do it for another 4+ years in university.
And Smeg, from one grad student to another, I feel you buddy. Good luck to you as well.
When I was in school, Geometry was the class before Algebra II, Trig, and Calc. It looks like the OP might be a freshman or sophomore, and is on track for the other math classes. I wonder if there are other exams he is not mentioning - usually a language or English class is also required.
