Some youtube whiz took an AC/DC performance video and Brian Johnson’s vocals and dropped in a funk arrangement for the underlying music.
I love how the song sounds as a funk tune and am amazed at what technology can enable the imagination to realize. I wonder how tough it was for the person who did this to bring it together - how long and how precise do you have to be with your editing to sync this stuff up?
Oh yeah- it’s also well-crafted, and the song is cute, but more of a novelty. This works as a fun mash-up, but I also dig thinking about the song arranged this way - it’s just an interesting musical exercise…
Very cool! I just wrote to the head of the local School of Rock suggesting a genre switching show.
One of my favorites like that was at a Schuba’s “Hoot Night” themed on “Guilty Pleasures”. One did “Purple Rain” as covered by Johnny Cash (this was long before the American recordings like “Hurt”).
Hearing **Social Distortion’s **punked up version of Ring of Fire, or Mike Ness-as-a-solo-artist’s version ofDylan’s Don’t Think Twiceare excellent re-interpretations, too…
According to legendary funkologist, Bootsy Collins, it’s all about it being on the one. Back in Black is one of those songs where the emphasis is on the one, so it makes sense.
Oh good lord that is hilarious. But given all of the turmoil that Metallica has gone through, e.g., *Some Kind of Monster *revealing their upper-crusty warts and such, it is hard not to look at it as more than a little mocking.
Indeed. I am a Social D lover and his stuff is just a variation of that. If you don’t have any Social Distortion, I can’t recommend them highly enough - consistent and great at what they do - the AC/DC of punk/cowpunk/psychobilly - I just think of them as good rock n’ roll.
Ring of Fire Ball and Chain(sorry for the ad up front, but the song is worth it) Prison Bound - stick with it 'til it switches from piano to full band 1:30 in…
Fun - of course there is a whole universe of these on Youtube that I knew nothing about. Some are well done like most posted here - many are fun ideas but poorly executed.
