Exchange of airline ticket?

I may have to head back to STL earlier than expected due to unforeseen circumstances… I have already bought a round-trip ticket to Colorado, however. Do airlines generally exchange tickets for other times/dates if there is availability?

I’m flying frontier if that helps at all… If not, I may just have to purchase a new ticket.

It’ll depend on any restrictions on the original ticket. Best bet is to call the airline and explain the situation and see what the options are, and what they’ll cost.

In my experience, yes they will, providing of course it is on the same airline.

They WILL charge you the change fee, though, in MOST cases.

I’ve even used “abandoned” tickets from almost a year ago to apply toward a completely new ticket, with different itineraries.

Think it costs $100, but I am not at all sure about this, so don’t take it as fact. Still better than just letting a paid-for ticket just die.

Well, that all depends. On what the fare rules are. I’m not intimately familiar with the rules that apply to F9 tickets, but some airlines are more restrictive than others

Example: If one has a non refundable ticket on NW, one can not exchange it for a refundable ticket, if one has a non refundable ticket on AC, one can exchange it for a refundable one, but said new ticket becomes non refundable to the amount of the original ticket. Airline rules are great

My advice would be to contact the airline or the travel agent you bought the ticket through, to find out the restrictions on your fare.

In practice, though, any ticket is changeable at any time, if you’re willing to pay. It can run you alot, though. I’ve seen people who missed a connecting flight from Europe to North America spend upwards of 4000.00 CAD to get home.

Did I mention airline rules are great? :frowning:
