Excuse Me, Right-Wing Radio Pundits...

You think misdiagnosis and unintentional death are funny? I thought you were just simple, but you are truly disgusting.

Did you even *read *the article or did your chortling at the title blur your vision?

It isn’t. Naughty kids here just get threatened to get stiffed on their presents.

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t think misdiagnosis and unintentional death are funny; he just thought he had scored a point against the ideological enemy, which of course must be resisted in every way possible.

With S_A, the most important thing is to post a counter-argument to every single point that might conceiveably labeled ‘politically liberal’. If the counterargument doesn’t happen to fit the situation, then he’ll either rearrange it until he thinks it does, or bitch about how we completely misunderstood what he was driving at. Watch.

The funniest part is when the doctor says,

Man, he like totally wants to make sure the program is working as intended so dying people are treated with dignity! Fucking hilarious!

I actually got a bit nauseated when I read Starving Artist’s gloating at being right (or so he thought) at the expense of the people suffering and dying. That being right is more important than common compassion and sympathy, in his mind, is frightening and disgusting. My first instinct was to immediately Pit him for his post.

And he says that *Liberals *are what’s wrong with society!?

Oh, good, we’re in the Pit. You disgust me, SA.

Just remember, liberals think conservatives are bad people, while conservatives only think liberals have bad ideas. So any personal dislike of SA you might have is simply because you’re a poor misguided liberal. It’s irrefutable.

I read the debate about death stuff and I can almost forget the 20 develped countries that operate universal healthcare systems are democracies - we vote for this time after time after time.

Take a clue, feel free.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2009-08-31-mexico-health-care_N.htm They moved to Mexico. Who can afford health care here?

If everyone would kindly step down from their high-horses for a moment, it may become apparent that the laughter was aimed at the OP.

But then you already knew that, didn’t you? You just thought you had a good excuse to play the EVIL CONSERVATIVE card and, being the honest and upright people of the liberal persuasion that you are, attempted to take full advantage of it.

Is this what it ultimately boils down to - clans and tribes? You pick one and, right or wrong, you stick by it to the end?

He is of the tribe that wears the onion on their belt, and yells at clouds. We are the People of the Tofu. who hug the trees and hunt the wild birkenstock. It is not simply that his ways are alien to us, but that they bite the big one.

I said nothing about evil conservatives. I said “I thought you were just simple, but you are truly disgusting.” “You.” Not conservatives, not Republicans, not elves or tribes or horses or anything except “you.” Just “you.” And your response further demonstrates that my opinion is accurate.

Why? What other explanation can there be for the people here who were (allegedly) so quick to believe I was laughing at/making fun of people dying in England when I was so clearly making fun of the OP by posting factual evidence of the existence of the very kind of thing that he/she was making fun of the right for being concerned about?

People are dying right now in Canada and the U.K. because of wait times, which have gotten so bad that even the Canadian Supreme Court has decreed that people can seek private care for conditions otherwise covered by the government there (something which would otherwise be illegal; under Canadian law people can only seek outside help for conditions the government doesn’t cover. People are apparently dying right now in the U.K. because of premature government declarations of their terminality. The incoming president of the Canadian health care system has declared the situation there desperate and said that the average Canadian has no idea how bad things are. Cutbacks in necessary surgeries are being mulled in Vancouver. Etc., etc., et-fucking-cetera, and you fools continue to turn a blind eye to it and then seek to make fun of those of us who don’t.

You want government health care badly enough to subject yourselves to ridiculously long waits which more likely result in more deaths than the ones you’re so outraged over under our system; chronic financial shortfalls and their concomitant denials of coverage; and faceless, unaccountable government beaurocrats making decisions about what health care you and your family can either receive or be denied, then be honest enough to admit that despite these very obvious and serious problems, you favor it anyway. Don’t pretend they don’t exist and then make fun of and attempt to deride people as stupid when they recognize and object to the very real and proven shortcomings of government health care systems in other countries and are prescient enough to look at how the U.S. government has operated over the last century and extrapolate from that just how well-funded and effective and efficient health care would become if operated by the U.S. government.

Yup. Here in Troll Country we’re in the middle of an election campaign. And some of the parties are mentioning the health care system - how to best fund hospitals, details about how the private and public parts of the system should cooperate, things like that. But none, not one, of the political parties, not even the tiny little fringe groups on the reactionary end of the scale, want to touch the basic principle of health care for everyone.

If it were really such a horrible idea, why would this be so?

Too firmly entrenched? Too many people willing to opt for free Band-Aids and flu shots at the expense of long waits, cut-backs, and underfunding for expensive, potentially life-saving treatment later on? Etc., etc.?

A million people needing minor care for most of their lives can be pretty happy with “free” government health care. But when they get to the end of their lives, or they or a loved one develop serious health issues, and they can’t get treated for ten months to a year (assuming that the government will be able to pay for it in the first place), they are likely either to not be so enamored of UHC after all, or to adopt the same sort of fatalistic “shit happens” attitude that many of us here in the U.S. get excoriated for when we mention it in opposition to government UHC.

People are going to die no matter what system is in place.

“Why?” Why do I think you are a simple and disgusting person? Perhaps you should go back to #16 and reread your post.

Further proof: you are trying to put the responsibility of your spiteful and vile jibe onto people who read it. Take responsibility for your own post. If you misspoke, apologize and move on. If you stand by it, which you seem to be doing, my assessment also stands.

Of course I stand by it! It is just as I said: the OP was making fun of the right for worrying about the very thing my post showed was already going on, thus I laughed at him while posting a link showing that. The fact that certain people here chose to view that as my taking delight in the suffering of others speaks to their (your) personal bias…also like I said.

I’d just assumed Starving Artist had misspelled HAW HAW HAW.

Well, now, just a minute. SA has, in fact, posted a cite, which is a fumbling step towards actual argumentation, with evidence and stuff. It deserves at least a Participation Ribbon, and our encouragement.

Your post showed no such thing. This was pointed out to you.
