Exercise Equipment Question

I just finished up two months of personal training out in MA before I moved here to CA. I transferred my gym membership out here and go routinely for cardiovascular exercise but found that my weight loss was helped along by all the calisthenics and light training (elastics, hand weights, pushing against her hand) that my trainer asked me to do but since I’ve pretty much remember all the tortures she used to bark out I don’t want to shell out for even more personal training until I feel like I’ve really hit a plateau.

What sports stores are likely to sell the long bar my trainer used to have me carry on the squats? I’m also looking for hand weights, elastic rubber bands and maybe a weighted ball. I know the hand weights etc. can be found at a place like TJ Maxx (and are those even out here in CA??? I only see Ross which doesn’t seem as good) but I’m wondering where people go to get the other light training type equipment. I would recognize most of it before I saw it and I memorized the poundage on all the stuff before I left so I’m basically looking for an exercise equipment type store. If this stuff is sold at Target/Walmart, I’m amenable to buying it there too although the only stuff I really see out there is the hand weights.

As far as why I don’t want to use the equipment at my Ballys…the place is packed esp. because I go at night and frankly I’ve never seen any of it around there. When I asked the trainers there they just kept badgering me about getting more PT which I don’t want to do unless I start gaining weight or something. Thanks for your help.

Sure, you can get some exercise equipment at Target, but if you want more of a selection, I’d suggest someplace like Sportmart or Sport Chalet. Also, check out your local Goodwill from time to time. I just picked up a Pilates bodyband workout set for $5.00! Welcome to California!
