I just saw a thread asking about the origin of the term “jumping jacks”.

Which reminded me of my high school PE teacher. He had a term for, well, I swear it was for jumping jacks. It was a long name, maybe 4 or 5 workds, but I’ve been trying to remember it for years now, and all I can remember is “side-straddle” something-or-other.

Anyone have any idea what that was?

Yes, the “side-straddle hop.” Military PT terminology, AFAIK.

I don’t think that’s quite the term he used, though.

I’m sure it had more words in it.
