Point Zero - failed miserably, didn’t even found Paris. I ended in Bourges, more than 200km south. I didn’t know that Paris is so farm south. I’ve never been in Paris, though.
The Tower of London - I hit it, but by pure luck and quick thinking. I found London quite easily (the big river made it easy), but then changed points that I though the Tower is several times during zooming until hitting that big thing with courtyard near that old bridge. T’was it!
Times Square, NYC - easily, right in front of recruitment booth. I was recently in NYC though, and spent most time on Manhattan. I remember it’s geography by heart.
The Coliseum, Rome - I botched approach and zoomed on wrong city. When I realized that it was too late to correct. On second approach easily hit right in the middle. Must improve my medium range skills. Finding general area isn’t problem, finding exact spot in the city isn’t either, but finding city in general area - here I’m lacking skills.
The Reflecting Pool, Washington, DC - whooops, again, wrong city. Ended up in Philadelphia looking in wain for that damn pool that should. be. right. there. Upon correcting my location on second descend, found pool easily - it’s very characteristic, after all.
The USS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor, HI - heh, that’s easy - thought I. Zoomed to fast before more detailed map loaded and Hawai scrolled out of screen and I ended in the Pacific. Second approach was better.
Hoover, or Boulder, Dam - had no idea where to look for it. Tried US - Canadian border and, therefore, missed totally.
Overall, 2/7 - not good, not good at all. Need to improve my mad geography skillz. It’s somehow harder to find anything without these borders and city names written on the map.
