My neighbor has a dog like this. A huge Mastiff Bitch. A huge liability also. It has bitten me and everyone I know at least once. Dog has got to go!
Someday, old Dave is gonna get sued into oblivion.

That’s not Rage Syndrome. That’s just a badly bred, badly socialized, badly trained, badly managed aggressive dog. Who yes, has to go.
Rage Syndrome was a name invented to explain some really bizarre behavioral episodes in certain lines of Springer Spaniels. They were nice, well socialized, well trained dogs, and suddenly they went berserk for no apparent reason. Some kind of seizure or brain malfunction is the theory, totally unproven.
Practically all dog attacks can be shown to be caused by humans provoking the dog into self-defense. I’ve seen a lot of videos of so-called “unprovoked attacks” and I could tell the dog was not happy with what was going on long before the incident.
There are also aggressive dogs. Aggression is highly inheritable, and is quite predictable in the two most aggressive breeds, chihuahuas and daschunds. Which is not Rage Syndrome.
I don't think anyone here really understands the rage syndrome unless they have witnessed it. Has nothing to do with just biting. It is a full out and out rage and is extremely rare. A pit bull or shepherd might go an the attack but not be in a rage. A dog who has this problem can no longer be safely handled by anyone. I really believe it is caused by a brain tumor.
A lot of great information at this link WhyNot provided.
