Experiences with Telus Mobility and replacement phones.

Does anyone have any experiences to share with Telus Mobility & getting a replacement hand set?

I have an older Audiovox 8300, and the contacts on the battery are worn. It won’t charge anymore. The local Telus store says they can’t order the battery anymore, but there’s a few in stock in the next city (about an drive hour away).

Now, persoanlly, I hate this stupid phone. I’ve hated it almost since day one. The navigation buttons are crap, and it’s nearly impossible to use. The menus are confusing and the interface pretty much sucks. It also doesn’t get very good reception indoors, though that could be a service area problem and not so much the handset’s fault.

Besides all that, it’s just not as *neat *as the newer phones out there.

OK, so I’m on a 3-year contract that isn’t up for at least two more years. When I’m up for renewal I know I will be offered a great discount on a new handset if I sign for another term. But I need a new phone now, not 2 years from now.

So, what are my chances of crying to the lady at the service desk to get a new handet for a better price?

You can always pick up a new phone…for a price.

If you already finished 1 year you might qualify for some sort of hardware upgrade. At least my company (competitor to Telus) does but you need to have 18 months of service between upgrades.

Or, pick up a CDMA used phone from ebay or something. Just make sure you get the Master lock code.
