While I think Moore has a lot to answer for (mostly the superhero deconstructionist movement spurred by Watchmen), he’s also able to do more upbeat, traditional storiesof superheroism, and do them very well.
See “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?”, Tom Strong, and (so I’ve heard) his run on Supreme.
I’m also a big fan of From Hell, which, while dark and psychotic, hardly adds a dark twist where one wasn’t before!

I still think DC made a big mistake by bringing Captain Marvel and the other Fawcett characters into the mainstream DC universe. They should have stayed in their own little world, maybe under another imprint.
