Mine invokes a feeble punchline.
“What’s a Tellyworth?”
“Oh, about $300, unless you want 3D.”
Fortunately no one ever asks.

Mine involves another board and some guy who was trying to sell a typoed electric winch.
I going to repeat what I said in the last thread like this, which is that I think Crotalus is an awesome name.
Gee, thanks! Yours always makes me smile, for some reason. It might be the exclamation point.
Being English, my maternal ancestors have always had cats, and they were all named Tibby. We’ve had a succession of Tibby cats since I was born and I carried on that fine tradition with Tibby 8th after I married.
Well, that came to a screeching halt when my first born was diagnosed with asthma. After considerable deliberation we put it to a vote and decided to keep the kid, get one of those ridiculous hypoallergenic Schnoodle dogs and get rid of dear Tibby (I won’t tell you how I voted, but it wasn’t unanimous). So, I put poor Tibby in a box on the table in anticipation of transporting him to the pound. Then, Schrödinger (the Schnöödle) jumped atop the table and knocked the box to the ground with a great thud. I was afraid to open the box, wondering if I would see a live cat or a dead cat (Tibby or not Tibby, that was the question). As it turns out, I opened the box, and they were both in there.
Back when I joined up, there was another poster by the handle tatertot. I love tatertots, and decided to name myself after another great food product.
I chose a food that I was really hot on at the time, happily making 2+ hour trips to Philly to get my fix. I haven’t had a real cheesesteak in about 10 years, but still feel a need to join in any discussions about them. How could I not?
Many, many moons ago I was involved in a Star Trek RPG. My character’s rank (abbreviated) and last name has become my username on several forums.
Interestingly, there is/was a Doper using the name Captain Lance Murdoch. He and I have never discussed the similarity of our names; I’m not sure I have ever interacted with him. It doesn’t bug him, it doesn’t bug me.
How in the world did you know that?
You’ll note the “not really” above, Johanna.
I’m a huge Zeppelin fan, but this song has a favorite verse of mine:
Simple fun, running around in the rain like a fool…
It was the water. And a lot more.
It is, in part, an anagram of part of my real name. Also it sounds cool, especially if you say it in death-metal demon voice and throw other cool sounding stuff afterwards.
Regallag the Axe, scourge of the North, bringer of slaughter, born of Winter with ice in his veins.
Elendil was a great, wise and powerful king of Gondor and Arnor in ancient Middle-earth in the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. If he weren’t fictional, I’d be proud to be descended from him.
Well, since I just joined, I figure this is a nice way to introduce myself. I’ve been reading threads a couple days now- laughing, agreeing, arguing- and finally decided to join in because otherwise no one here will be able to hear me!
Oh yes, why “Why Child.” I’ve been deliberating about what I wanted to call myself. Favorite fictional character? Favorite color? Name myself after my cat? This is serious stuff!
Asked myself, Why let this hold you back? Why is this so important? Why not just pick something? And a voice in my head pipes up, "Mom always said you were her “Why Child.” Oh, inspiration!! Besides, I was ever curious.
Random thought…
I think an excellent username here would be Felch The Wax Tadpole
Then allow me to -perhaps- be the first to welcome you to here. That is a catchy username and I hope Mom approves. I trust you will enjoy yourself here and remember to say nice things about the mod’s.
My favorite constellation is Orion. I used to use Orion as my username in about all of my online games. One day, somebody had taken it and I couldn’t log on, so I changed it a bit to Orionizer and have kept it ever since…
And perhaps I’ll be second. Welcome aboard, Why Child!
I don’t really know
Uh… could you spell it out for us anyway?
The bad guy in Blue Thunder flies an armed Loach, doesn’t he?
Dr. Brown’s dog in Back to the Future was named Einstein.
I’ve always liked your username. Sounds like something the adventurers would pick up in a wacky dungeon.
Seconded!
Bumbershoot is a tune by my favorite band, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones. Plus, a bumbershoot is sort of like a parachute and I used to be really into skydiving.
I’m not named after the Seattle music festival- at least I don’t think I am. Maybe that’s where Fleck got the name for his tune; I know they’ve played there in the past.
