I think the inclusion of an exclamation point is genius, a simple list transformed into a command in latin for the hard of hearing.
I’m a Terry Prachett fan and I’ve been [del]a seamstress[/del] a needlewoman (and do some designing, mainly of dance costumes.)
I wanted something I wouldn’t forget.
What? It’s self-explanatory.
A character in Chuck Palahniuk’s book Haunted (He wrote Fight Club also.)
Lots of good usernames in that book. Mine is pretty morbid, but then so is the book.
Nightfall is the name of Isaac Asimov’s most famous short story. Nightfall1 is because I had been a member of the Straight Dope before and I was Nightfall and I had to leave for some reason and when I tried to get back on I couldn’t get Nightfall back. Probably some silly little reason that a five year old could fix… but not me. lol
It came from the Ender’s Game series: Ender Wiggin. I’m rather annoyed that my W is lowercase as it tends to all blend together.
The last two numbers was my age. My original plan was to change my user name on my birthdate to reflect the new age. I came to the boards as Enderw23 and got as far as Enderw24 before an admin said something to the effect of “really? We’re not doing this every year.”
So I never changed it again. My god, it’s been 11 years.
I live in a community that is inhabited by a great number of watermen. Most adult males are referred to as “Captain” whether or not they actually ply their trade on a vessel of any sort. The phrase “dbygawdcapn” is widely used around here. It is short for Indeed By God, Captain, and its meaning is roughly "Yes, I indeed heartily concur with your stated opinion, my good sir! "
An Eventer!! Yay!!
I’m sorry your pretty girl is gone though I have a Holly too - she’s 26, AQHA, plain chestnut, and has the awful reg. name of Holiday Bonus. I ride and show her son now
(Ooops, sorry 'bout the hijack!)
Holly was lovely! My first Gordon Setter was named Holly, so I have a soft spot for that name, too.
Camp P is the name of my property, P being the first letter of my last name.
I figured if the President can go to Camp David, I can go to Camp P------.
Way back in the 1990s, I needed a nickname for IRC. I wanted something based off angels as I was on an “angel lore/mythology” kick at the time but anything obvious was always taken and led to spats (“Hey, you’re not the real Seraphim! Get off or we’ll ping spam you!”).
Jophiel (“Beauty of God”) is the name of the archangel who drove Adam & Eve from the Garden of Eden according to extra-scriptural Judaic lore. It was obscure enough that I didn’t have to fight for it and yet interesting enough that I liked using it. It just stuck from there and is my go-to name when I can get it. The internet being what it is today, nothing is ever too esoteric to not be taken so sometimes I make due with the alternate spelling “Iofiel”.
Years ago I made a joke with a friend that my dream job would be to become an intergalactic gladiator. A few years after that, I found Yoda’s blog on the Internets and thought it was brilliant. Character blogging became popular at that time and a lot of people began blogging as a Star Wars character. I wanted to make a character but didn’t want to be tied down to the Star Wars continuity so I created a blog for Jon the Intergalactic Gladiator. I wrote some really good stories there, I think, but real life got in the way and I haven’t updated the blog in a few years.
I love banjos, and am especially fond of this shape for the headstock, also known as the peghead. You can probably guess what it looks like without clicking the link. I honor it with my username.
I am Tim. I am one. I am also very timid.
Doggone it! I wanted to continue to nurture my belief that you were named after fiddlehead ferns!
My username is just my first name and my zip code ( I also go by ms63129, with first and last initials, on other sites).
Mine comes from my baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Forgot to capitalize the C. And just to annoy my Cubs fan friends, that would be the World Series Champions.
It’s where I live.
Was he the guy who said “I wouldn’t trust my own grandmother in this place!”?
Greatest line from a movie. ever.
Oh, that’s clever!
Bit like someone on another board who was a huge CSI fan and used the name Four N Six
