After working just fine up until yesterday, my IE 5 suddenly stopped working. It would boot up, briefly show a window, and then I would get an “error type 2” message, and it would crash. I’ve tried downloading and reinstalling… as well, I also took a working version from another computer and imported that… same result.
Any ideas?
I’m running a MAC with OS 8.6, if that makes any difference.

CAUSE
This behavior may occur when the Internet Preferences file is damaged.

If it is not possible to retrieve these settings, you can contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for this information.
Locate the Internet Preferences file in the following path:
Hard Drive:System Folder:Preferences
Drag the Internet Preferences file to Trash .
On the Apple menu, click Control Panels , and then click Internet .
Re-enter the settings for all Internet connectivity options that apply. A new Internet Preferences file is created when you close the Internet Control Panel.
Thank you… that did the trick.
