The Roman Polanski case has me wondering how in general a transatlantic extradition is carried out. Do they put the accused on a plane and call the other country telling them what they did? Is the accused brought to the other country by military transport or something along those lines? Who pays for transport? Are there any special customs requirements for the accused? Are there any special procedures once the accused is in the territory of the new country, or is more or less like being arrested normally? Any information or citations would be much appreciated.
