F Merrick Garland. (He won't be going after anyone)

The one good thing is that as cautious as Garland is, you know that when he does something, it’s pretty freaking serious. The blathering from Trump’s lawyers insisting that there’s nothing and the Biden government is desperate to pin anything on Trump couldn’t be further from the truth.

I’m pretty sure some serious shit is about to go down.

Absolutely true.

As many have pointed out, the FBI will have handed Trump an inventory list of everything they took. If it’s all a witch hunt and the stuff they took is NOT classified or sensitive–if it’s all old WH lunch menus or such–then all Trump has to do to PROVE that he’s being unfairly persecuted, is to release that inventory list.

Funny that he hasn’t done so…

It’s being audited.

So, what? Two weeks?

What are some of the possibilities of what classified documents were kept? Why would he need them? Why wouldn’t he have made copies and given the originals back or just destroyed the originals so that there was nothing to find?

I’m going to get on to a fifth grade level here, so I can channel Trump and say that there was shit in there that could get him in trouble, so he hung on to them so that no one else could see them. Adult logic need not apply.

So why didn’t he just destroy it all over the last 18 months?

The Justice Department would not acknowledge the execution of a search warrant at Mr. Trump’s home on Monday, nor would Mr. Garland’s aides confirm his involvement in the decision or even whether he knew about the search before it was conducted. They declined to comment on every fact brought to their attention. Mr. Garland’s schedule this week is devoid of any public events where he could be questioned by reporters.

Like a captain trying to keep from drifting out of the eye and into the hurricane, Mr. Garland is hoping to navigate the sprawling and multifaceted investigation into the actions of Mr. Trump and his supporters after the 2020 election without compromising the integrity of the prosecution or wrecking his legacy.

Toward that end, the attorney general is operating with a maximum of stealth and a minimum of public comment…

Gotta love it. At least I do. :slightly_smiling_face:

That sounds like work.

But I see an accusation in there that Trump actually read something for comprehension. Trump could not handle the cover page of a secret document much less anything in it. I have a feeling Trump just felt like all that shit was his, end of story. The FBI/National Archives/deep state/etc wanting it back just made him want to hold onto it more for no other reason that pure, childish spite.

Not enough toilets available.

NPR’s Justice Department correspondent Carrie Johnson talks about the raid with Judy Woodruff.

I’d start around 0:44.

Or matches, or lighters? I hear smokers are dying in South Florida due to a flame shortage.

Seriously, why the hell wouldn’t he just destroy anything incriminating right away? Even if there is a lot, mob bosses have easy ways of getting rid of things.

Can’t sell what you no longer have.

Any ex-president-mob-boss-wannabe worth his weight in ketchup knows you need to keep a few burner toilets around for a situation such as this.

Maybe he could just get one of these:

It may not be material that is incriminating to him, but to others. People in his cabinet, congress, or various agencies may have dirt on them in those files. If that’s the case, he wants to have it, and doesn’t want anyone else to. This is pure speculation, but it would explain his actions here.

Damn, that reporter sure likes their commas. I couldn’t help hearing it in William Shatner’s voice.

I thought the same. “Nice documents I have here, It would be a shame if I accidently released them to the press”
And I also think that if Trump signed something, he thinks it’s his"
