F Merrick Garland. (He won't be going after anyone)

Not making any claims.

Expressing my frustration that all signs are pointing to Trump getting away with it.

Who am I attacking?

If saying that Garland took his sweet time and looks to be too late is “attacking” him. I’m guilty as charged. – I don’t see it that way.
If ridiculing all the “Schadenfreude” and “fart” threads raises the ire of any “adults” I can only point and laugh.

The rest of the board.

That’s bratty teenager behavior, at best.

And this is why people mock you and dismiss your whining.

We’re a year behind where we could’ve because of the Justice Dept, so it’s not unreasonable to think these trials could’ve been over by now.

He allowed the Biden hit piece get published. Biden grumbles, but he did appoint Garland, the biggest blunder of his presidency.

This was definitely worthy of criticism.

Need I mention a failure to investigate Trump’s family? I guess I have to. We saw that belatedly Garland agreed to investigate Trump’s blatant crimes. We have seen that he appointed a Republican to investigate Biden’s retention of classified documents and then allowed him to make his report a hit job on Biden when he couldn’t find reasonable grounds to charge him. And he hasn’t even looked at the rest of the Trump crime family. How long are you going to defend this bum?

I’m not defending the bum, I’m defending facts against hysterics, hyperbole, and misinformation as we’ve seen throughout this thread. Frankly people have spouted total bullshit in their ignorant anger against Garland and deserve to be called out for it. And they have been.

I’m not going to join you in your blind ignorance, sorry. I mean, for fucks’ sake the premise of this thread is that Garland would never go after Trump, yet he’s been charged dozens of times by the DOJ and could see the inside of a prison.

I’ve criticized Garland but I am not a frothing lunatic dispensing with any and all logic or reality in my ignorant rage. That’s how MAGA folks operate, not me.

So no, sorry, not joining you in the idiot parade on this one. I’ll reserve my criticism for real things, not conspiracies.

Sorry. I really don’t have much to add to this thread, but I’m overwhelmed by the desire to simply say

“Yeah, and F Murray Abraham, too, while we’re at it!!”

Good then. Done and done.

Carry on.

Should he have appointed a Democrat and been deafened by the howls from the GOP?

He could have appointed a Republican along the lines of Robert Mueller: close to retirement and with an impeccable reputation–one that, presumably, the appointee would want to preserve.

Instead we got this careerist 51-year-old who appeared to be auditioning for an appointment as Trump’s Attorney General.

The GOP howls all the time. How would this be different?

Do you really believe for one second that if the roles were reversed that Trump’s AG would have appointed a Democrat to investigate Trump?

Remember how the GOP lost its shit when Muller fired some FBI agents because they made some personal texts that were not glowing enough towards Trump? They weren’t mad because the agents were unjustly removed from the Russia investigation for having personal opinions. They were mad that the fact that FBI agents could have personal opinions that weren’t aligned with Trump wasn’t enough to shut down the entire investigation.

Yes, because the GOP would’ve howled no matter what he did. Democrats need to stop being intimidated by what they anticipate is the Republican reaction. He could’ve a least appointed a Republican that wasn’t in thrall to Trump.

I think he’s been a horrible AG. The two year delay in beginning an investigation into Trump was inexcusable, and almost guaranteed to insure that he wouldn’t face consequences before the election.

Letting this AG report get released to the public was inexcusable because the report is finessed to be interpreted as “we think he’s guilty, but we don’t think he’s mentally competent and we think a jury would acquit for that reason.

This is unprofessional and beyond the pale, because as we are reminded every time a Republican does something wrong, if your public statements impugn them while clearing them, they never get a chance to prove themselves innocent. That’s why Robert Mueller was so careful to not say that he thought Trump was guilty of anything.

If Garland makes an attempt to clean up this pile of shit he dropped on Biden’s doorstep, I might walk this back but it would be hard to convince me at this moment that he’s not actively working against Biden.

I wish Garland had realized early on that not wanting to appear political does not matter when you are up against someone who is going to accuse you of being political just for existing.

I wish Biden had realized early on that he should’ve appointed Sally Yates.

Yes! Yates would’ve been great.

I would agree with this if I knew more about the situation and his excuses for delaying. Some delay was to be expected, two years does seem excessive.

My understanding is they have to go up the chain of command.

Start with the little guy, get him to flip on the guy above him, and keep going.

It’s SOP I think.
