It seems that you posted your question here looking for confirmation that this F-Scan works, and all you’ve gotten is negative feedback.
The advice given in this thread so far is as honest as could be hoped for, and advice is all you would get since there are no facts other than testimonials and anecdotes. Quackwatch has not yet posted any info on this F-scan, but seems to indicate that info is on the way.
If you’re not happy with the advice given, then by all means, feel free to ignore this and do as you wish.
Hopefully, this F-scan does no harm.
I think all of us would rather hear that your children are happy and healthy.
It is not approprate to take a child to a chiropractor. Their joints are not as stable as an adult’s. Chiropractors are not doctors. Their theraputic value is limited. They can, in some cases relieve chronic pain in adults. They can also leave one a quadraplegic. They are not routinely educated in the treatment of infectious diseases.
Viruses don’t release toxins, bacteria do.
There are viruses that interfere with the immune system, HIV is the most obvious, but not all viruses are immunosupressive, in fact some stimulate it. Many viruses release interferon which kills competing viruses.
There are a few drugs that will interfere with specific viruses that are not vaccines. Acyclovir is the parent drug of several tha interfere with the herpes virus.
The reason some people feel better when using questionable treatment, is that they want to. The mind can effect remarkable changes in the body. Its called the placebo effect. It has been studied extensively.
It would be wonderful if there were a machine that magically cured disease; something that doesn’t hurt, that has no negative side effects, that doesn’t take long, and isn’t expensive, but its doesn’t exist. Nine times out of ten, medicine is painful, complicated, expensive and is only marginally sucessful, but its all we have at the moment. I’m not saying that all alternative medicine is worthless, but much of it is simply inapproprate for children.
MaddisMom, I’m sorry to hear that your children are ill. By taking them to a chiropractor, you are delaying their chance at regaining their good health, please find a pediatrician to take your children to.
I have a pediatrician, a family practicioner, a cardiologist and a respiratiory asthma specialist, all from ER Hospital visits. I have more doctors and nurses for my two children than I know what to do with. And my children still get sick. But thanks for all the advice anyway.
It may suprise you, but every single poster in this thread is really, really concerned about the well-being of your children.
But this fellow you are taking your children to is promising an awful lot; far more than is reasonable, given what we know about the physical world. Among the posters on this Board are Epidemiologists, Physicians, Chemists, Physicists, and many other people with a complex scientific/technical background. Most Boards do not have the kind of “brain trust” resources that we do, & maybe you should reflect on that–especially when they start sounding the warning alerts, as they do in this thread.
Please remember–your Chiropractor is just another fellow in a white lab coat. He may be mistaken, ill-informed, undertrained, or even “odd”.
I urge you to follow this course of action:
[ol]
[li]Concentrate on an orthodox, conventional treatment program for your kids.[/li][li]Supplement this with alternative treatments, ones that you can do yourself.[/li][li]Shun any alternative practitioner that wants you to abandon all conventional treatments.[/li][li]Shun any alternative practitioner that uses mystical/supernatural terms to describe his treatments.[/li][li]Shun any alternative practitioner that talks about conspiracies of doctors trying to hide the truth.[/li][li]And please remember–if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true–that is, it is false.[/li][/ol]
I said nothing derogatory to you. I indicated that your chiropractor was a quack. That’s pretty clear: He has recommended that you use a device whose manufacturer says does nothing to help anyone. He deserves a hell of a lot of scorn for telling his patients something like that. It’s completely inexcusable for him to be recommending a treatment that does no good at all.
Again, the manufacturer of F-Scan says quite clearly it does nothing. I’ll repeat:
So the people selling this device say:
[ol]
[li]It is not a medical device.[/li][li]It does not diagnose any disease[/li][li]It does not prevent any disease.[/li][li]It does not treat or cure any disease.[/li][li]It doesn’t even help improve any disease.[/li][li]It does not affect anything in the body.[/li][/ol]
In other words, the device is absolutely useless. This is a statement by the manufacturer. They know what they’re making and they’re warning you that it does nothing.
No legitimate medical professional is going to recommend a useless device or treatment.
