When I wash my face, my face gets very dry. My mom often tells me to put cream on.
However, after some time, my face gets very oily. My mom often tells me to wash my face.
I don’t want to do either - won’t putting cream make my face oilier? The oilier, the more I’ll have to wash, and so on in a vicious cycle. Besides, I don’t like washing my face - too much mess what with water getting everywhere.
So, what do I do to make myself pretty? Or at least not look like I have a disease or am an oilcan?
First, don’t use soap. Soap dries the skin. Use an oil-free cleanser and every few days exfoliate.
Mousturize with an oil-free moisturizer (not a cream) each time you wash your face. Apply lightly and rub in gently until it’s absorbed.
Personally if my face gets a little oily during the day I put a little witch hazel on a cotton pad and gently rub down the oily areas, but others will undoubtedly tell you not to. It works for me and doesn’t dry my skin excessively. And I put on moisturizer after I do it.
I like to use witch hazel pads to exfoliate. They don’t dry the skin the way that Oxy pads do, but they’re rough enough to scrape off all of the dead skin.
You can probably find them at your local Wal-Mart or pharmacy.
I like these things that neutrogena makes to remove oil. You’ve probably seen them in commercials. They’re blue, and when you put them on an oily spot on the face, they absorb the oil. They’re really cool. Of course, this is NOT a substitute for washing your face, just something you can do during the day.
I’ve stopped using soap altogther. As part of my daily routine, I wash my face using only water. Of course, there’s exceptions if I get grease covered or something but for just daily dirt, it’s only water.
My adult acne problem has lessened a lot because of this.
