Facebook makes decision making easy

Just checked and it seems they have reinstated the accounts deleted by the bug mentioned in Angel of Death’s linked article. Mine is working again. Checked my e-mail and still nothing from FB. Seems they might have at least sent a brief explanation and notice to the accounts they put back up. Oh well, you get what you pay for. Time to gather non-FB e-mails from people I want to stay in contact with and close my account in a couple weeks anyway.

Wait a minute, you’re not supposed to use fake names on Facebook?

Thanks for the promotion, but I’m not quite there yet…gotta work my way through Depression and then Disease first…:stuck_out_tongue:

Glad you got reinstated! And good on the heave-ho they’re getting anyway!

Angel of Doubt, Facebook-phobic

I recently left facebook (my 2nd time quitting, hopefully the last) and I’m not missing it. The newfound decrease in email spam is nice.

And I also don’t miss television after having given it up about 4 years ago. There is life after (certain types of) technology! I’d never give up computer gaming, though.

I’m on Facebook, sort of. But I use my internet name, not my meatspace name. And I have a lot of friend requests from people who seem to think that I know their meatspace name…which I don’t.

That may be, but it’s also completely legal for a website owner to say it won’t allow people to use its website using an alias. Going on Facebook is not a legal right.

BTW I don’t understand why etv78 mentions having a candid pic. Where was that mentioned as an issue?

She mentioned that her account was only valid after uploading a pic from a gov’t ID.

I think you misunderstood. Facebook wasn’t asking her to make her profile pic a picture that was on a government ID. It was asking her to actually fax them a copy of the government ID.

Yes, I DID misunderstand! That’s absurd!
