Facebook question

Over the last few days I’ve gotten 4 “anonymous” posts on my wall. No identification of the poster. They seem innocuous enough, but definitely a mistake or some sort of phishing? Is this common? I just hide them, but is there a way to do anything about it?

It’s probably an application rather than a friend. Go to the upper right corner, to Account > Application Settings and use the drop down menu to find apps that are “allowed to post” and “granted extra permissions.” It’s probably one of those. It’s a good idea to keep that list down to the absolute minimum that Facebook requires to work because otherwise you’ll have stupidy things leaving messages all over your news feed and tapping into your information.

And if you aren’t using an app, completely unsubscribe to it. You can always get it back later. And you won’t lose your settings in it.

I’ll try that. Thanks.

Is DISQUS Comment System a standard app I need?

No, that’s something that’s used to control access to comments on certain blogs–probably there so you can automatically post a comment on a blog to your FB page. My advice, dump it.
