Is there any organisation that keeps track of much-shared images on Facebook? Either Facebook themselves, or some other organisation?
For instance, I notice a particular image that went viral in Australia yesterday was shared by a boatload of my friends, and when I track it back to the person it seems to have originated with it, it lists “shared 70,000 times”.
That’s a lot. But how can I find out if that’s a lot compared to other high profile images that have been going the rounds recently? And is that just going to count the people who shared directly from her, or also the people who shared from people who shared from people who shared from her?
