I’m confused.
If a photographer stops doing photography in order to adhere to her religious beliefs, that seems to me to be either
A) The photographer willingly leaving the industry – no force involved; any discrimination that exists is coming only from the photographer.
B) The religious peers pressuring her to get out of such a risky business – force (and discrimination) coming from the religious people, not from the law/politicians, gays (whether or not they’re marrying), or general constituency which has encouraged the politicians and/or voters to support marriage equality.
How/why is the photographer (or baker or florist or whatever) blaming the non-bigots (anti-discriminationists) for her individual choice to comply with her religious tenets? I mean, it’s not like any religious adherent is forced by the rest of society to adhere to 100% of their religion’s prescriptions and proscriptions. Hindus have eaten beef products, Jews have eaten pork, Muslims have consumed wine, Buddhists have worn jewelry, etcetera, etcetera. Non-participating peers, associates, and even-more-distant contemporaries in the world generally don’t care and won’t force anyone to change jobs because of such indiscretions.
