A lot of folks don’t understand how unforgiving forklifts are during collisions. Two big reasons:

#1: There are no bumpers or thin sheet metal to provide cushion during impacts. Not even a little. There are hard steel forks up front, and on the back end is a massive solid steel counterweight. If you bump into something, your forklift will not deform; the object you hit will deform.

#2:They are astonishingly heavy. A typical car weighs 3500-4000 pounds, whereas this small forklift weighs 8000 pounds without any cargo on the forks.

When you bump into something, even at low speed, it generates massive impact forces, and you have a lot of momentum to dissipate.
