In three weeks, there is a new small RenFaire close to my home. Older Daughter and I are planning on attending.
She will be dressing as a wench. She likes that.
I am thinking of doing something a little different. Something more than my usual kilt or wizard’s robe (no, I am not a purist or Scadian).
Tell me, would a Scottish Pirate wear a kilt or just a tartan sash? What other accoutrements would anyone suggest?
Cutoffs. Halter top. Big hair. High Heeled Dr. Scholls.
Oops, didn’t notice the final ‘e’ in ‘faire’.
Moving on…
Scottish pirate? Hmmm. Big loose fitting shirt with ruffly sleeves, open down to mid-chest. Tight breeches tucked into (Scots, Scots, lemme think here…) leather boots, I suppose. I dunno if tucking tight pants into those funky knee socks with garters would work, I think you only wear those pantless, with a kilt. Definitely a plaid, probably not a kilt, just throw the plaid over one shoulder and belt it around your middle with a wide leather belt… you could probably hang a sporran off the belt.
You don’t care if this is historically accurate, right? I’m trying to capture the “feel” of Scots pirate, but I have no clue if any of this is SCA approved.
