FairyChatMom, Honey!

(I thought if I used the term of endearment you might take pity on me!)

Anyway, FCM or anyone, I am trying to re-configure Outlook Express from BellSouth to Comcast, but I am having problems in the section where it asks for POP3 or whatever.

I am putting comcast.net in as my e-mail server, but then when I try to recover messages, I get an error message telling me the e-mails cannot be recovered.

What do I need to enter instead of comcast.net to re-configure OE?

Thanks, um, honey!

(And yes, I know I’m an idiot. My SO points this out to me on an almost daily basis, so don’t rub it in!)

Q

Well, snookums, umm… isn’t it something like mail.comcast.net?

Of course I could be talking complete wombat bits.

Thanks, “sugarlips”!

I’ll try that!

Q

And if sugarlips’ suggestion doesn’t work, you might try pop3.comcast.net, scooter pie, unless it’s an imap thingymabobbyhoosiehoo in which case, try imap.comcast.net, sweet potato.

Hope that wasn’t too technical an explanation on the imap, dumplin’

I love you little poopiedoopies!

Q

There should be a warning on this here thread, for danger to blood sugar levels … sheesh!

I can’t wait till FCM wakes up and checks her SDMB posts this morning!

Heh!

Q

We wuv you too, shnookielumps.

So your email’s working then, puppykins?

Oooh, is widdle Quasi having pwoblems with his widdle e-mail? Oooh, poor baby. We needs to help him/her, yes we do!

[phooey. I feel like Pwincess Pwecious. Good luck on straightening out that computer thingy.)

Incoming mail is mail.comcast.net, outgoing is smtp.comcast.net.

Back to the regularly scheduled baby talk…

And for those lovedumplings on cox.net, incoming is pop.east(or west).cox.net, outgoing smtp.east(or west).cox.net.

Wuvvums the snugglemuffiny thread!

I sense a great disturbance in the glycemic index …

So Quasi dumplin’, do tell. Have you got it all worked out now, puddin’ pop?

Salem, (punkin’) it’s all worked out, thanks to you and the other little swee’ peas!

Q

I think this thread threw me into a diabetic coma!

And I’m glad someone was able to help you, Quasi, because I would not have had any idea how to assist. And I’m on vacation, so my brain is disconnected.
