What is this meme about “I dare you to do that around black people”? Is the idea that black people are hair-trigger brutes who will immediately explode into physical violence at the utterance of a racial epithet really one that we want to be perpetuating?
Nobody ever responds to anti-gay jibes with “I dare you to go say that in the Castro.”
I totally agree. I was enlisted in the Navy for six years, twenty years ago. Like anoyne who has served and been through the training about ranks, medal order, etc, in boot camp, I can spot a fake within two minutes of talking to them. Many people try to claim service, but not to the brazen degree that this dirtbag did.
An earlier poster pointed to the bragging that’s usually done. My favorites are the ones that claim to be former SEAL’s. I had one of those talk to me a few years ago. I tested him by saying “How was BUDS?” His response: “I had a lot of buds and we all kicked ass”.
BUDS, of course, stands for Basic Underwater Demolition School…or the first few weeks of SEAL training.
Rule of thumb: If someone tells you after knowing you for five minutes that they used to be a SEAL…they are lying to you. SEAL’s don’t reveal their history to strangers because of the stupid questions that ensue, ie “How many people have you killed?” or “Can you show me some cool moves?”
Best post yet. And they could be a battalion that just returned from Afganistan and lost a few men along the way. And bitchboy would surely have to be sporting a Purple Heart.
It’s not a “meme.” It’s a tool I use to point out to people that just because it’s more socially acceptable to use a slur like “faggot” than one like “nigger,” it has the same effect on the group you’re disparaging.
