Fall River public pool (now with human corpse!)

O, we are plumbing the depths now.

I don’t know guys, this isn’t one of those weird Death by Misadventure threads. I think dredging up puns might be in poor taste in this case.

We don’t dredge them up, they just bob to the surface.

Yes, if you skim the thread you’ll see that’s what happened.

OtakuLoki, you’ve been here long enough to know to take it to the Pit if you want to call other posters names.

Dial it back, right now.

Headline: “USS Voyager found in pool, missing 20 years.”

Sub-head: “Shrunk to 10% by pollution.”

I heard there used to be a pukey smiley…

In the meantime, ewwwwwww.

Is it wrong that the ads at the bottom of my page are for swimming lessons?

If you can show me where i ever said that his assertion was false, you’ll have a point. The word used, very specifically and intentionally, was “unsupported.”

I never made a single observation about state bureaucracies in my post. The inferences you have drawn from my post say more about your skills of observation and interpretation than about my position.

Is this the same Fall river where Lizzie Borden took an axe?

Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty-one.

Lizzie Borden, poolside guard,
Liked her job—it wasn’t hard.
Shove the drowned ones way deep down,
Stir the cloudy pool around.

Yep.

They have escalators to get into public pools? Gee! I must check that out next time I am south of the border!

It’s because of how murky the pools are. Without the escalator you can’t see where you are going!

Jeeze - Americans won’t walk anywhere!

Heh, I’ve lived in Fall River. It’s pretty grim and gritty and socially and economically depressed. The caricature MA cities in movies like The Town aren’t too far off. Government corruption and apathy at it’s finest. Sad, really.

(I come from RI where we had a felon as mayor of the capital city so I can throw stones, honest!)

I live in Fall River. I offer the following points:

We are still waiting for the bridge over the river to the west to open. The new bridge has been under various states of construction for 35 years. The bridge it is replacing just had it’s weight limit dropped from 9 ton, which was starting to be a issue with rescue vehicles, to 3 ton, which has a issue with Hummers and Suburbans.

The previous police chief’s son was busted for smack.

City councilor one was busted in his tighty whities trolling for common nightwalkers one fine night.

City councilor two was busted by the Staties for running a illegal betting internet parlor. He loudly proclaimed his innocence, stating he had no email address.

The head of the city council just had to cough up 93,000 because he took it upon himself to bypass the water meter in his marina. We will not mention the time a few weeks ago he ‘borrowed’ a boat from his marina and took a few friends for a joy ride that ended on the rocks two towns north–after all his buddies in that towns police force saw nothing…

Half the three deckers have at lease one vacant unit, and if not for section 8, most would have two.

The mayors great plan to turn things around? He wants a casino.

Why are people so squicked out about being in the same water with a dead body? Has no one ever been swimming in a pond or a lake or an ocean? I am sure there are plenty of dead things/waste products in those.
