Family Tree Maker: transferring data

I have the Family Tree Companion CD, produced in 1998. My brother gave it to me with the computer hardware.
I may get another computer, but I don’t know how to transfer data (shown on the screen in FTM in a file-folder format) concerning weddings, dates, children, and so on.
How could I transfer this data from one hard drive to another, assuming it’s feasible to copy it onto a floppy disk?

There should be a “Copy/Export Family file” choice in the file menu.

Back it up to a floppy if fits. I would think it would. Mine is only about 700 KB,

When you install the program on your new computer, just copy the file into the new FTW folder and you should be good to go.
