Famous people whom are deceased... poll

What famous person(s) who(m) is/are currently deceased, do you miss a great deal and wish they were still living?

I terribly miss Vincent Price. No one will ever fill this wonderful man’s shoes, as the finest, and most fun, horror-film genre actor. I grew up watching all the old VP/Roger Corman horror flicks. I am 30 yrs old, and I still haven’t seen all of VP’s films. I am so glad he got the honor of starring in Edward Scissorhands, as one of his final films. No one else could ever so conceivably play the role of Ed’s creator.

VP never was a disappoinment to watch, as he always brought a certain endearing familiarity to any of his roles, despite if the film itself was horrible. (Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs, comes to mind) No matter how rotten his character was, or how silly (remember Egghead in Batman? ), he always seemed to project an image of truly enjoying his work, and made his audience feel like a dear old friend. I miss you, Mr. Price, wherever you are. Your films will always be cherished.

The only contemporary genre actors who come reasonably close to walking in VP’s shoes, are Bruce Campbell, and Robert Englund, but there will never be another Vincent Price. May he rest in peace, or “pieces” if he prefers. :frowning:
::::in the background, I can almost hear pipe organ music playing Bach’s Tocatta & Fugue in D minor:::::eek: Oh wait a minute, that’s the CD player… whew:rolleyes:

I may come up with tons more, but the first one that pops into my head is Bradley Nowell from Sublime.
From the first time I heard What I Got on the radio, I knew I was hearing genius. I immediately went out and bought that CD, listened to it in its entirety, then went out again and bought the rest of Sublime’s CD’s. About a week later I learned the Bradley had died months before. I wasn’t completely overtaken with emotion, but he was the first singer-songwriter that I’d heard in a long time which really stirred me. I heard tons of talent coming out of him and I was excited to hear more.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - his death was a crying fucking shame. Such a waste.

I miss Bulushi(sp). He was so funny. Also Peter Sellers was also very funny.

Vladimir Horowitz.

Fred Astaire.

Most of all, Jimmy Stewart. :frowning:

I’m just sad they’re gone. I don’t feel like being mushy about it.

Benny Hill
Sam Kinison
Bill Hicks
Graham Chapman
Phil Hartman

They all made me laugh and I was very sorry to see them all go.

I almost for the “Duke”.

John Gielgud - tremendously talented person. He had a good run, but still…

Alec Guiness - another cool one bit the dust.

Madeline Kahn - I was so distraught when I heard she died. She was a wonderful comic actress.

Stevie Ray Vaughan. Like Jack Batty feels about Bradley Nowell, I feel about Stevie. His guitar playing was out of this world and I want MORE, MORE, MORE and can’t get it.

Madeline Khan, Dusty Springfield, Charlie Chaplin, The Three Stooges, John Lennon, the lady from the “Where’s the beef” commercials, and especially Walter Matthau.

As everyone who knows me will know, the answer is
Abbie Hoffman, who died April 12, 1989.
Also Lenny Bruce.
Can you tell I’m an old hippie?

::putting on my nerd hat::
DeForest Kelley.

damn. coulda checked. shoulda checked. never thought it would happen to me.

that’s “putting” on my nerd hat…

The one and only Andy Kaufman.

(Yeah, I know, I know… it’s only a prank and he’s not really dead).

(Sniff) :frowning:

Zev Steinhardt

He’s dead Jim.
For me?

Jimmy Stewert,
Louis Armstrong
Gilda Radner

ZeGirl: I’ll second you on Stevie Ray. He was the best. It’s shocking when wonderful artists leave us, especially if they were so young.

xanadu: Amen to John Lennon and Walter Matthau. Two mold-breakers.

And I’ll add:

Cary Grant
Jimi Hendrix
Ella Fitzgerald
Coach from “Cheers”
Miles Davis
Sam Cook
John Candy

Chris Farley.

Such a short life, brought to a terrible end.

Makes me teary-eyed just thinking about him.

John Lennon (Mark David Chapman can fucking rot in hell forever and I hope he gets fisted by gorillas while he’s there. Bastard.)

Jim Henson.

Kurt Cobain
Once can only wonder how Nirvana would’ve evolved if he was still alive and able to play music.

Jeff MacNelly - his cartoons for Dave Barry and “Shoe” were great, but his paintings had such life to them.
