Famous people with animal names

There are a couple of athletes (no one particularly famous) with the last name Gnat.

Stephen Goldfinch is a state senator from South Carolina.

Felix Mallard is an actor with many TV roles in the past 10 years.

For some reason I felt like I needed to show up in this thread.

Thats funny.

We have a few Dopers with animal names.

Dopers being what we are, I figure it’s a toss-up as to whether folks would first recognize Len Birman from SILVER STREAK with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, or from the 1970s CAPTAIN AMERICA made-for-TV movie pitting Reb Brown against Christopher Lee.

(Or, y’know, from any one of half-a-hundred other things.)

Great voice. Plus, he got to shoot McGoohan.

Dick Wolf
Pearl S. Buck

Robin Fox and Lionel Tiger are coauthors of a book called The Imperial Animal.

There is a fairly well-known mathematician named Hyman Bass.

There is a well-known Sci-Fi writer named Harry Turtledove.

Who was, incidently, listed in the OP.

I was planning on compiling a master list with all the contributions from this thread. But you guys have produced so many possible additions that I’m not sure I have the time to do that. Anyway, thanks to everyone for their contributions.

Does that mean I missed my chance to make a case for Don Keefer?

Of course not. What’s a keefer?

Opening doors, I guess.

But I’m talking about the alternative-spelling category for a guy who soubds like he would’ve qualified as Donkey Fur.

That’s way too far out in left field.

Oh. Well, then: Moss Hart?

There’s a former snooker player called John Parrot.

Rhino Neil.
Ray Lee Otter.

Mako?

I mentioned them WAY upthread
